East African Educational Publishers, the rights holders of the novel, have entered into a licensing and partnership agreement with Kwa Ndego Creative Hub to adapt the acclaimed work for the stage. Published in Gikuyu in 1986, Matigari tells the story of a man who emerges from the struggle for independence in search of truth and justice, only to encounter a society still grappling with inequality and oppression.
