Since Myanmar's military - the 'Tatmadaw' - established a ruling junta in place of a democratically elected State Counsellor, a civil war has been raging. The North-western Chin State is at the center of the nation's resistance movement, with jungle camps and makeshift villages now home to civilian defense units. Cung joined the Chin Defense Forces 18 months ago, and now leads a battalion. 'This is our land, this is our place. They can't beat us', he says. Chin State's Thantlang town was recently taken by the Tatmadaw, with 12,000 residents fleeing. 16-year old Emily's life was turned upside down when she had to flee the town: 'I miss my friends so much. I am alone', she explains. As the resistance ...

The Air Force has lost 8 aircraft to collisions with birds. 500 million migrating birds form an air traffic controller's nightmare, but the Air Force is learning to accommodate its flying peers. They've invested thousands in tracking the birds with radar. And their efforts have paid off; "We've reduced collisions with birds so much that every minute we spend on research is worthwhile!" On the ground, fellow conservationists are trying to repopulate the skies with endangered Pelicans, Pygmy Cormorants and Griffon Vultures whose numbers have dwindled thanks to the planes and pressure for land and water. Their greatest success is Kevin the Vulture. They hope that he will take to an Israeli sky uncluttered by planes and bombs, for not even bird...

Thrusting spears at the camera, the warriors of Maisin practise the fierce welcome they plan to give the loggers. He's not defending a poor life he says, "development has to come," but "if there's development the Maisin people have to initiate it." Plenty of others though have welcomed the loggers. The Kosuwa hunter-gatherers signed on the dotted line, yet still without the promised roads and clinics they're sorely disillusioned, "the company bullshitted us." The fall of Kabul to the Taliban saw Afghanistan stripped of democracy. On top of this political upheaval, just 11 days after the Taliban took Afghanistan's capital, Islamic State launched the first of several attacks in the country. These attacks have killed hundreds of civilians, and shattered any hope of a lasting peace or stability in Afghanistan. Now, Norwegian Paul Refsdal reports, the Taliban is waging their own War on Terror in the Eastern province of Nangarhar - the birthplace of the Afghan branch of the Islamic State. Here, the violence rarely grabs international headlines, but confrontations between the Taliban security forces and the Islamic State are a nearly daily occurrence.

Jack Ma is the creator of Alibaba.com, a global on-line marketPlace for small and medium businesses. He's eager to stake his claim in the capital available for fledgeling internet companies. The Chinese government has already blocked some sites, such as those having to do with Tibet. Some are seen as borderline, like the site which helps gay men cope with coming out. They must be very careful not to bend the strict government-imposed rules, or they too will be blocked.

Foreign investors are reluctant to put funds towards developing in Vietnam. "There's no easy money there," one explains. Journalists must be accompanied by a "guide", who is responsible for promoting the party line and telling us what we can and cannot film. Yet with all this control the Communist party has difficulty garnering the support of the youth, who freely express disillusionment at politics.

We look at the front line of Eritrean soldiers, men alongside women, defending their border against a one-time friend. Since hostilities broke out between newly independent Ethiopia and Eritrea two years ago, the world has looked on helplessly. Both countries won their freedom by fighting against the harsh Mengistu regime. Why they are now fighting each other is a question few can answer. Ostensibly it is over a small border dispute, but that hardly seems to justify the scale of this conflict. Half-Eritrean, half-Ethiopians do not have an easy decision if they choose to recognise their other half, a woman who lives this dual life tells us. She has chosen to live in Eritrea. Eritre...

Survivors found their way to Clark Air Force Base, an abandoned U.S. facility just miles away, which quickly provided shelter and comfort. But the refugees soon began to feel unexplainable symptoms. Children were being born with horrific deformities, and the people became sicker and sicker. They eventually realised that certain areas around their new home had served as the toxic dump for American troops stationed at the airbase, rendering their water completely polluted.

The increasing hostility between the police and Britain's black population culminated in a very public showdown after a bungled investigation into the murder of black teenager Stephen Lawrence. In 1993 Lawrence was fatally stabbed by a gang of racist white youths. The investigations were so flawed that despite witness accounts none of his killers have ever been brought to justice.
