- Is it now a trend to falsely accuse men of heinous crimes like rape and molestation? This shocking case reveals a woman's alleged fabrication of a sexual assault, fueled by her ex-boyfriend's family's influence. As the police delve deeper, the truth could land her in serious legal trouble.
The recent surge in such accusations, even against former partners, raises serious questions about their motivation. What drives these claims, and how can we prevent the misuse of such powerful allegations?

He was said to have operated in hooded clothing and face masks, armed with weapons, during the robberies, and allegedly confessed to carrying out several incidents in Parkview Estate, Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lekki Phase 1, and other estates on Lagos Island.
His alleged confession reportedly led to the arrest of Atahiru, said to be a receiver of stolen items. Police said Atahiru admitted purchasing gold and diamond jewelry, gold bars, designer watches, and other valuables from Fidelis after meeting him in 2024 during one of his visits to Lagos.

Patent medicine sellers and herbal remedies are the norm. Experts warn that this leads to incomplete treatment and drug resistance, worsening outcomes for vulnerable groups like children and pregnant women.
Elizabeth Mehento, a mother of seven, treats malaria monthly without proper testing, relying on self-diagnosis and unregulated remedies. Many in Makoko do the same, swallowing what's familiar, even if unproven.
In Makoko, every fever is assumed to be malaria. Without accessible healthcare, residents fend for themselves, perpetuating a cycle of uncertainty and poor health outcomes.
It’s about to get worse with the current demolitions.

This directive bans electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) and installers from demanding any upfront payments or fees from customers for meter supply or installation, with warnings that violators will face prosecution
Some DisCos have pushed back, arguing that labeling the meters as "free" is misleading since they bear the repayment burden, potentially leading to tariff adjustments.

- The Lagos State Government issues a stern warning to tankers and truck drivers. Following a harrowing accident involving a gas-laden truck at the Apakun Bridge inward Oshodi, the government is threatening a full-scale clampdown on speeding tanker and truck drivers.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Mr Sola Giwa, described the conduct of reckless drivers as "egregiously irresponsible" and a direct threat to the lives of Lagosians.
Preliminary reports indicate that a heavy-duty truck was traveling at a perilous speed when it rammed into a private car
Which impact was devastating.
Two pedestrians were struck, and the driver of the car sustained grave injuries. Because the truck was carrying Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), the area was a ticking time bomb. It took a coordinated effort from LASTMA, the Fire Service, and the Rapid Response Squad to prevent a secondary disaster.

- After nearly a decade in legal limbo, one of Nigeria’s most high-profile corruption sagas has finally reached a London courtroom. Diezani Alison-Madueke, the former Minister of Petroleum Resources and the first female president of OPEC, stands at the center of a landmark bribery trial.
Prosecutors at Southwark Crown Court allege that during her tenure from 2010 to 2015, Mrs. Alison-Madueke traded the keys to Nigeria’s vast oil wealth for a "life of luxury" in the United Kingdom.
The prosecution’s opening statement paints a vivid picture of excess. They allege the 65-year-old accepted over £2 million in benefits from oil executives seeking lucrative government contracts.
Among the specific items listed in the indictment:
* £100,000 in cash.
* The use of chauffeur-driven cars and private jet travel.
* Luxury shopping sprees at Harrods and Louis Vuitton.
* And perhaps most significantly, the payment of staff salaries—includ...

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed a Debarment Policy, a move that allows government agencies to blacklist contractors who collect public funds but fail to deliver quality work as promised
The policy is aimed at strengthening accountability in public procurement and ensuring Nigerians get real value for their tax money.
To help us understand how this policy will work in practice and what it means for everyday Nigerians, I’m joined by Engnr. Adekunle Mokuolu, Former President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.
1. Many Nigerians are familiar with abandoned or poorly executed public projects. How exactly will this debarment policy change the behaviour of contractors and protect public funds?
2. High-profile contract failures like the Sujimoto/Smart Schools project have sparked controversy. How would the new policy apply in such a case? especially if...
