- An enforcement team from the Lagos State government has dislodged street traders at the popular 2nd Rainbow Junction.
In a post shared on his X handle at 10:11 AM, the state’s commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab wrote: “Good morning Lagos. Our enforcement team is currently dislodging illegal street traders constituting a nuisance at 2nd Rainbow Junction, inward Mile 2.
“These activities obstruct traffic flow, endanger pedestrians, and litter the environment. We remain committed to keeping our roads safe, clean, and free of all forms of environmental infractions,” he added, concluding with the hashtags.

- In Nigeria today, the wailing of sirens no longer depicts an emergency situation. It is now being used as an instrument of intimidation and occasionally as a display of prestige.
According to the National Road Traffic Regulation of 2012, only top governmental officials, like the President, Vice-President, governors, and the emergency response team, are allowed to make use of sirens and beamers.
However, in modern reality, we see people like businessmen, entertainers etc, with armed escorts making use of sirens.
Sadly, the penalty is as minimal as 3000 Naira, which we know can't do anything to deter offenders. Joining us via Zoom to discuss the silent issue is Barrister Joseph Idowu, a legal practitioner and public affairs analyst.

- A passenger train on the Abuja–Kaduna route derailed on Tuesday morning, leaving some coaches overturned and passengers in panic.
The incident occurred along the busy corridor shortly after the train left Abuja around 11 a.m. on its way to Kaduna. Witnesses described a chaotic scene, with passengers rushing to escape in fear and confusion.
In a statement, the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) confirmed the derailment. “NRC confirms a train derailment involving its Kaduna bound AKTS train service at about 11:09 at KM 49 between Kubwa station and Asham station,” the statement signed by NRC Managing Director Kayode Opeifa reads.
The NRC added that emergency rescue teams, medical personnel, and nearby hospitals had been mobilised. “Full compliment of security already on ground as effort is ongoing to move all passengers on train back to Abuja safely. Kindly bear with us at this moment,” the statement said.

- President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday arrived in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, for a two-day State Visit at the invitation of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
During the visit, both leaders are expected to hold bilateral talks, participate in the Nigeria–Brazil Business Forum with top investors, and witness the signing of key agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs).
The engagements will strengthen cooperation across agriculture, energy, aviation, technology, renewable energy, and cultural exchange.
A major highlight is the push for multi-billion-dollar agricultural investments, including the $1.1 billion Green Imperative mechanization project, alongside efforts to attract fresh Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into Nigeria’s agriculture and energy sectors.
