The leader of the government in the Senate, Penny Wong, said that ‘to claim that “none of them are good” is to say there are no good Australians amongst them; is to tell a child that no matter how hard they study, how kindly they treat others, how much they love this country, they will never belong.’ The Senate has voted 36 to 17 to censure Pauline Hanson over her comments about Muslim Australians.

As of Monday morning, the death toll is slowly mounting, including more than 100 children reportedly killed in Iran.

- Citizen scientists discover a Great Barrier Reef coral giant
- Date posted
- Description
- Citizen scientists have discovered what they believe is one of the largest coral colonies ever documented on the Great Barrier Reef. The coral spans about 111 metres in maximum length and covers an estimated area of 3,973 sq m – about half the size of a soccer field. The Pavona clavus coral was first found by Jan Pope in waters a few hours offshore from Cairns. It was identified as part of the Great Reef Census, a citizen science project run by Citizens of the Reef. Experts say large coral colonies will become rarer as bleaching increases in severity and frequency due to global heating.
