FEMA equips NPWS stations with backup communications equipment and power generators that enable them to continue broadcasting information to the public during and after an emergency event. In May 2023 upgrades to the KHKA AM radio station (Hawai’i) were completed, strengthening the resilience of the facility against natural and man-made disasters.
