The farmers say they had expected to be paid by last month to allow them to adequately prepare for the next farming season, but that has not yet happened.
Traditional leaders have also weighed in, urging the government to address the issue urgently.
Chief Mabumba of the Ushi-speaking people has appealed to authorities to expedite the payment process to keep farmers motivated to continue selling their produce to the agency.

51-Year-Old Sylvia Mutaba is charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of her husband, whose skeletal remains were found in their house in Garden Compound.
The arresting officer, Detective Masola Simushi, testified that Sylvia Mutaba was present in the same room when her husband died and that she attempted to resuscitate him.

- Goods worth thousands of kwachas have been reduced to ashes after a fire swept through Friday’s Corner Bar and Restaurant in Mazabuka District, Southern Province.
Owner Friday Ng'andu says the exact cause of the fire has not yet been established but suspects it may have started in the restaurant’s kitchen, which operates within the same premises.
The fire is believed to have broken out around 02:00 hours Tuesday.
However, the Mazabuka Municipal Council Fire Brigade was only notified 2 hours letter when the flames had already engulfed all four shops at the premises, including a bar, restaurant, and two other businesses.

The protesting staff have expressed frustration that despite the agreement, some lecturers are still earning as little as 4,000 kwacha a situation they say has led to mass resignations over the past three years.
And Lusaka Business and Technical College Students Union President, Frederick Kangwa says the standoff has disrupted lessons and has urged management and authorities to resolve the matter urgently to restore normal learning.
Meanwhile, the union leadership has informed Diamond News that the situation is now under control and has called on members to resume work.

- A 69-year-old woman of Hanahuche Village in Munyama Ward, Siavonga District, has narrowly escaped death after being shot in the neck by unknown assailants, some of whom she has identified.
The incident occurred around 22:00 hours last night while the victim, Evelina Manyewa, was asleep in her grass-thatched shelter.
According to Munyama Ward Councillor Specio Mulaziki, the attackers allegedly climbed onto the victim’s temporary structure and shot her in the neck before fleeing the scene.
Police investigations into the incident have been launched.

Mr. Simushi has told the Lusaka High Court that after successfully gaining entry into the house, the passage leading to Mr. Kalaba's bedroom smelled of decay.
He has testified that the bedroom where the remains were found was disorganized, dusty, and deserted.
Mr. Kalaba's skeletal remains were found lying on a plastic sheet on the bed, covered with a green towel up to his chest.
And a child witness, and friend of one of Mrs. Kalaba's children, has testified that she noticed a sudden change in behavior of Ms. Kalaba and her children in 2023, when they could no longer allow her enter the house.
