- A security video showed a Matanzas High School student knocking a teaching assistant to the floor and then beating her as she lay unconscious and defenseless, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office and the video.
The 17-year-old student was charged with felony aggravated battery with bodily harm; he was taken to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility and later turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
“The student stated that he was upset because the victim took his Nintendo Switch away from him during class,” according to the release.

- A 21-foot orca whale died on Wednesday morning after beaching itself in Palm Coast, the Flagler County Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook.
The video shows the marine mammal washed ashore, unresponsive, with waves crashing over it. FCSO stated there were no obvious signs of trauma on the body.

The Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit, and its partners issued 4,004 traffic tickets and warnings in a nine-month operation in 2022, said sheriff's spokesman Andrew Gant.

- Volusia County sheriff’s detectives are looking for the person responsible for the armed robbery of an Ormond Beach-area gas station.
The masked and armed suspect entered the Chevron station at 1716 Ocean Shore Blvd. before 10 p.m. Monday. The person had a handgun and demanded money from the clerk, which the clerk handed over.
The robber had a bandana over his face.

This home is in Wilbur-by-the-Sea and is falling into the Atlantic Ocean. The damage got the attention of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who mentioned Volusia County several times in his first press conference after Nicole's Thursday, November 10 landfall. Kevin Guthrie, director of the Division of Emergency Management, said the Atlantic coast is seeing waves of 8 to 16 feet, which could cause flooding inland, particularly along the St. Johns River.
