She and her husband, Achmat Dreyer, decided to buy a wendy-house to install on vacant land a few meters from the place she once called home. The informal settlement is called Under the Bridge and has no water, electricity or sanitation. Dreyer lives there with her husband and son, and she looks after her granddaughter, Amaan Achmat (seen in the video) on a daily basis. Solar panels on the roof provide some light at night and Dreyer collects 100 liters of water each week for cooking and cleaning. She says she is "not ungrateful" for where she lives, but she longs to live in a house again.
