- The Woodlands is a place where families with children experiencing homelessness can stay until they're ready to rent an apartment. A former motel converted into interim housing through Project Homekey, it has served more than 500 families since opening in the spring of 2023.
Besides providing a roof over their head, The Woodlands offers various services to help families get back on their feet, including job training. About three-quarters of the families have moved on to permanent housing, and more are on the way. About 50 residents have also secured jobs.
