- Description
- This music clip introducing the poem Zahrada - The Garden by Franta Bass is a new production of When Memory Meets Art. The concept created by Holocaust scholar Raquel Orensztajn, co-initiator of the project, aspires to highlight the authentic voices of the Terezin children, adding a contemporary layer of music and art to the children's inner world, reflected in words and artwork created in the ghetto. The soundtrack brings the voices of 5 children in Prague, Paris, Montevideo, and Tel Aviv. The mix of languages presents the original Czech lyrics written in the ghetto, along with international languages corresponding to a production marking the International Holocaust Remembrance Day and Hebrew, for which the melody composed by the co-initiator of the project, musician Effi Shoshani, was written. The Terezín ghetto children saw what grownups saw - humiliation, offense, uncertainty, endless lines for rationed food, funeral carts, and weekly transports. Still - they preserved a child's o...
