- WASHINGTON (TNND) — President Donald Trump has been telling donors to get behind Vice President JD Vance for 2028, according to reports.
“At the end of the day, we need to elect JD,” Trump reportedly told donors two weeks ago, according to The Washington Post.
However, other sources told the Post that Trump hasn’t settled on Vance and may look for another candidate.
In the past, Vance joked about Trump endorsing either him or Secretary of State Marco Rubio and made a reference to the president’s former reality TV show, “The Apprentice.”

On Thursday, the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs voted 8-5 to hold Fauci in contempt, despite Democrats' repeated attempts to delay.
Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., who chairs the committee, called for the contempt vote last week, telling Fauci, "It’s against the law to obstruct an investigation of Congress. There will be repercussions for your refusal to testify today."

Reuters was first to report the U.S. Army has gone through "virtually all" of its surface-to-surface Army Tactical Missile Systems and Precision Strike Missiles, citing people familiar with inventory data. These weapons allow personnel to launch accurate strikes while keeping a safe distance from the target. A shortage of these could necessitate the use of more dangerous methods of attacking the enemy, experts warned.
A Pentagon spokesperson who responded to the report said the military has everything it needs to execute orders from the president. Last week, responding to earlier reports of strained stockpiles, President Donald Trump said, "We have plenty."

- PENSACOLA, Fla. -- We now know the pilot of the small plane that made an emergency landing Monday morning on I-10 east in Pensacola.
The flight instructor is 21-year-old Emily Shelton.
The student she was flying with was on his first ever lesson. Thankfully, the two walked away without injuries.
Dramatic video captured by truck driver Eric Jordan shows Shelton fly the plane under overhead sign structure on I-10 before landing on the highway.
Air Traffic Control audio reveals Shelton -- who has logged approximately 1,300 hours of total flight time -- reported the smell of burning oil in the cockpit, which led to the emergency landing.
WEAR News talked to George Sigler on Tuesday. He's a retired Navy and commercial pilot, as well as a flight instructor.

- Vice President JD Vance on Wednesday called on Congress to help codify a broader federal anti-fraud effort, arguing that stronger data-sharing rules, steeper penalties and more resources are needed to stop waste, fraud and abuse in government programs.
Speaking at a roundtable event with lawmakers focused on fraud prevention, Vance said the Trump administration’s fraud task force had identified $230 billion in fraud and stopped $56 billion in fraudulent payments since it was created.
He said the effort, which has involved agencies across the federal government, should now be backed by legislation to make the changes permanent.

In California, the state Democratic Party has officially endorsed a “billionaire’s tax” initiative that would go before voters. The proposal would impose a one-time 5% fee on about 200 billionaires in the state if it passes. California Gov. Gavin Newsom has opposed the state-level approach, warning it could drive wealthy taxpayers to relocate.
“You would have a windfall one time, and then over the years you would see a significant reduction in taxes because taxpayers will move. And that is what I fear at a state level,” Newsom told Bloomberg in January. Newsom has instead pushed for a national billionaires tax.
