Needles and solvents used to dissolve injectable substances such as heroin, cocaine and amphetamines pepper the alleyways in the Holylands.
It marks a stark contrast to leafy adjacent Rugby Road, on the outer bounds of the popular student area.
Several residents who spoke under the condition of anonymity said they fear walking at night due to the number of people “drugged out of their skulls”.

Davy took inspiration from Beano, creating his own comics from a young age, which he’d sell to his family for a penny each.
He says: “Even before I could read, I was looking at the pictures, and I couldn’t wait to read it.”
He explains that his childhood was a great time to be a comic fan, as shops would offer at least 10 different titles.
“It was the golden age of comics. It was good craic as well. My parents always said, we don’t care what you read, as long as you read it. We always had books in our house, as well as comics and magazines.”

A man has appeared in Belfast Magistrates Court after an alleged assault in north Belfast where a woman was hit repeatedly with a bottle.
Kevin Teer (36) of Jamaica Road, Belfast, is charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm, and possession of an offensive weapon, namely a vodka bottle, with intent to commit grievous bodily harm.
Both offences are aggravated by reason of involving domestic abuse.
Teer was remanded in custody to appear again on August 17 and has not yet indicated his attitude to the charges.

- Three people have been arrested following a drugs search in north Belfast.
At around 9.30pm on Tuesday, July 21, officers from the PSNI’s Organised Crime Branch searched two vehicles in the Hopewell Avenue area.
Detective Sergeant Conlan said: “As a result of the proactive searches, officers seized approximately £60,000 worth of suspected Class A controlled drugs, a small quantity of suspected Class B controlled drugs, and mobile phones.
“Two men aged 20, and a 24-year-old woman were arrested at the scene on suspicion of offences including possession of a Class A controlled drug with intent to supply, and being concerned in the supply of a Class A controlled drug.
“They remain in police custody at this time as enquiries continue. We will continue to be relentless in our commitment to tackle the illegal supply and use of drugs, and will continue to investigate those who profit from the consequent misery and harm.

- Bands from across the nine counties of Ulster and beyond converged on Maguiresbridge to celebrate a glorious Twelfth in spectacular sunshine.
The celebration brought together different generations: Brian Graham, District Worshipful Master of Kinawley District LOL No. 7, has been marching for over 50 years, while his daughter has been in the band for 23 years and his son for 18.
A member of Teemore Accordion Band, he told the Belfast Telegraph: “Over those 53 years, I’ve missed two Twelfths.
Mr Graham is also a member of a private lodge, which has recently welcomed six new young members.
“It is great to see young people coming into bands: they’re the future of any band. It’s great to see so many young people turning out in lodges.
“My heart is all in the band and the lodge and whoever’s joined. If anybody asked you why do I have such an interest: it’s my culture, my father’s, my grandfather’s."

- Alongside Belfast, Ballymena is one of only two places in Northern Ireland to always host Twelfth celebrations every year.
Hundreds have travelled from across the country to attend today's parade and festivities, with the 2026 celebrations taking place under sunshine and blue skies.
Among those watching on were Rosemary from Bangor, who was sporting literally "the sash my father wore".
"It’s well over 100 years old,” she said. In her 80s now, she’s been celebrating the Twelfth since she was a baby.
“I love everything about it,” she said, “the family all getting together."

- Thousands of people turned out for the Twelfth celebrations in Belfast today as the city's main parade followed the longest route of the day.
A total of 77 bands from across Northern Ireland and Scotland marched the six mile route, with thousands lining the streets to watch the sunshine and the warm weather provided the perfect backdrop for the celebrations.
There was something for everyone, as shown by Bangor pair Pippa (8) and Ollie (5). Asked what they were enjoying about the day, Pippa said she liked the bands, while Ollie was focused on the trampolines!
There were visitors from near and far, including Colin from Salford who said he was "impressed with the community spirit and the whole feel-good factor".

Police are investigating the circumstances after three people were found dead at a property on the Old Cullybackey Road this morning.
The three people were related and found inside the family home. There is no ongoing risk to the public.
