- High-tech for the time… this logo was originally created by painting a map of the world on to a small ball (similar to a ping pong ball) with a tiny light bulb inside it. A curved mirror behind the ball reflected and stretched the globe’s image across the screen. A little bit of electronic jiggery-pokery added the blue and yellow colours, a motor made the world turn. Legend has it that static attracted a lot of dust to this globe, which would eventually result in a few too many Pacific Islands. An occasional dusting would set the world to rights.
