- A brand new @officialenglandcricket cricket competition called "The Hundred" starts on Wednesday 21 July and it's set to be a tournament like no other! It's been described as one of the biggest shake-ups to cricket in generations and it'll see eight teams representing seven different cities battling it out to score as many runs as possible from 100 balls.
The Hundred was supposed to take place last summer, but it was delayed by a year because of the coronavirus pandemic. The women's tournament begins on 21 July, with the men's starting a day later on 22 July. The finals day taking place place on Saturday 21 August. All of the matches will be available to watch live on the BBC and on iPlayer.

Birmingham Phoenix
Trent Rockets (based in Nottingham)
Western Fire (Cardiff)
London Spirit
Oval Invincibles (London)

- The hot weather we've been having over recent days in lots of different parts of the UK is set to continue this week - and if we're going to be feeling the warmth, our pets definitely are too.
The hottest day of the year so far was recorded on Sunday - reaching 31.6C at Heathrow.
Here are some top tips from Rory from CBBC's The Pets Factor on how to help look after all your pets, and help them beat the heat in the warm weather.

1. It's all about keeping pets cool. Never leave them in hot cars even if it's just for a short time. Temperatures can rise really quickly in there.
2. Just like you wear sun cream to avoid sunburn, use pet-safe lotion on exposed parts of your pet's skin, including the tips of their ears and nose. Where possible, keep pale-coloured pets indoors or in the shade.
3. Make sure your pet has access to both shade and fresh drinking water. How...

Today is the start of Eid al-Adha. Muslims around the world celebrate Eid twice a year and Eid al-Adha is the second of the two. Eid al-Adha, which means 'feast of the sacrifice', is an important festival in Islam. Many Muslims mark the event by sacrificing an animal like a goat, lamb or cow and a portion of the meat is given to those in need.
Eid al-Adha usually lasts between three and four days, although the dates of the festival change each year as they're based on the lunar calendar.
We spoke to Aqib and Zeyneb to find out more about the festival and how they'll be celebrating this year post lockdown.

- Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka all received racist abuse on social media following England's loss to Italy in the final of Euro 2020. Social media companies are facing new criticism for failing to deal with racist abuse directed at black footballers.
The Football Association said social media companies "need to step up and take accountability", including taking action to "ban abusers from their platforms".
"I felt as if I'd let everyone down," Rashford wrote in a statement. The 23-year-old added: "I can take critique of my performance all day long, my penalty was not good enough, it should have gone in but I will never apologise for who I am and where I came from.
"I've felt no prouder moment than wearing those three lions on my chest and seeing my family cheer me on in a crowd of 10s of thousands."

- Wimbledon is back after missing a year in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic. Serbia's Novak Djokovic, who won the men's title in 2019, is the favourite to win again. If he does, it would be a record-equalling 20th Grand Slam men's singles title.
Romania's Simona Halep, who lifted the women's trophy in 2019, pulled out on Friday with a calf injury. British player Andy Murray is back on form and playing again this year. He has not competed in the singles at the tournament since 2017 because of a series of injuries.
British female number one Johanna Konta won't be able to play this year because she has been in close contact with someone with coronavirus so has to isolate for 10 days.

A rainbow-coloured protest took place during Germany's Euro 2020 match against Hungary in support of LGBT rights. Uefa blocked Germany's plan to light up their stadium in rainbow colours in protest against an anti-gay law passed in Hungary.
Hungarian MPs voted last week to ban the promotion of homosexuality to under-18s.
Loads of fans waved multi-coloured flags in the crowd and one spectator with a rainbow flag ran on to the pitch during the Hungarian national anthem.

- Lego has unveiled its first bricks made from recycled plastic. Lego says that over the past three years, scientists and engineers have tested over 250 variations to get to this brick.
It will be about 18-24 months before the bricks made from recycled material appear in shops.
A Lego spokesperson said: "Just as kids build, un-build and rebuild with Lego bricks at home, we're doing the same in our lab."

- Dentists have told Newsround that they're worried about the impact lockdown has had on children's teeth. The number of dental treatments carried out on children in the UK more than halved last year - there were 4.8 million in 2020, compared to almost 12 million the previous year.
Coronavirus restrictions forced lots of dentists to close and millions of children missed out on important check-ups.
Dentist Hannah Woolnough told Newsround: "There is going to be a long-term impact from the lack of dental access in the last year.
"Children who haven't attended any kind of school have really fallen out of routine.
"At school you generally only have water to drink, but if you're at home and you've got access to sugary drinks and snacks whenever you want, then the chance of getting holes in your teeth will be much higher."

- The rearranged Euro 2020 tournament kicks off on 11 June as Italy face Turkey at the Stadio Olympico in Rome.

- England manager Gareth Southgate has written a letter to fans asking them to support his players and defended their right to speak out against racism. It's after some fans booed the team during England's friendlies in the run up to the Euros.
Gareth Southgate says "some people aren't understanding the message" after some fans booed when England players took a knee before their friendly match on Wednesday. Some boos spread around Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium before kick-off against Austria but were drowned out by applause from other supporters.
"I was pleased it was drowned out by the majority of the crowd but we can't deny it happened," said Southgate.
Players have been taking a knee to highlight racial injustice.

- The Pfizer coronavirus vaccine has been approved for 12 to 15 year-olds in Britain. The UK's medicine regulator, the MHRA, says the injections are "safe and effective" for children in that age group and that the "benefits far outweigh any risk". However, a final decision on whether children will or won't receive the jab hasn't been made yet.
More than half of all adults in the UK have now had both doses of a coronavirus vaccine, the final decision on whether kids will also be vaccinated is now up to the UK's vaccines committee.
Newsround's been putting YOUR questions to Professor Devi Sridhar, who is the Chair of Global Public Health at the University of Edinburgh.

- Evie Meg @thistrippyhippie is one of the UK’s biggest TikTok stars and she’s spoken to Newsround about how making videos around one of her conditions, Tourette Syndrome, has propelled her into the limelight!
Tourettes is a neurological condition which mean it’s to do with the brain. The signals from the brain can discharge at different times causing people with Tourette Syndrome to have something called a ‘tic’, these can be verbal and/or physical such as a head jerk or the repetition of a word. In Evie’s case the word she says the most is beans!
Monday 7th June is Tourette Syndrome Awareness Day where people shine a light on what it’s like to live with tourette's and how you can help support people who have the condition.

- If you were a fan of The Masked Singer (who wasn't?) then you'll be pleased to hear that it's inspired a new show The Masked Dancer, which finally starts this Saturday night. It will follow a similar format, with celebrity contestants performing unique dances (instead of songs!), whilst covered from head to toe in extravagant, colourful costumes and masks.
And it will be down to the viewers and star panel to guess their identities. Joel Dommett will once again by the punning presenter and Strictly pro dancer Oti Mabuse will join the panel, alongside Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan and Davina McCall.

It has been a year since George Floyd was killed in police custody in the US, an event which sparked protests around the world including in the UK. He was an unarmed black man who died after being held down by a police officer.
George Floyd's death led to lots of debate about racism and inequality and there were big Black Lives Matter marches in lots of countries calling for changes to policing, education and culture.
There are some big differences between policing in the US and the UK, but campaigners have argued that George Floyd's death has shone a new light on racial issues in UK policing.
Two of the major issues campaigners point to is the proportion of black people who die in police custody, and the way that police officers use "stop and search" powers.

- A new study has shown that sniffer dogs can detect coronavirus in humans in super-quick time and could be used alongside other methods to help spot the disease when there are no symptoms.
Dogs can have up to 100,000 times the smelling ability of humans and have long been used by emergency services to help find trapped people or spot smugglers. But recent research has shown dogs - particularly breeds like spaniels and retrievers - can detect the unique scents of some diseases including cancer and malaria.
As part of the current trial, six dogs were trained to recognise the smell produced by people with Covid-19 using worn socks, face masks and t-shirts of various materials. The study has a 94% success rate so far and it is that hoped that dogs could be used in certain situations to make re-opening society easier.

- Newsround has discovered that lots more of you contacted charities to get help with your feelings in the last year. Children's charities have told Newsround that they've helped more young people in the last year since the first lockdown started.
One of the biggest charities, Childline, said that since April last year they've had "73,088 counselling sessions about mental and emotional health" alone.
That's up by nearly a third for 11-year-olds and under, when compared to the year before.
But despite the challenges of the past year, many children have taken proactive steps to support their emotional wellbeing.

- Israel has declared a state of emergency in the city of Lod after violence continued, despite United Nations calls for calm. There were riots in the city and, overnight, more rockets were fired by Palestinian militants into Israel, while Israel carried out more air strikes on Gaza.
It comes after the UK, the United States and the European Union appealed to Israel and the Palestinians to lower tensions, following days of unrest between the two sides. UN leaders are expected to meet again to discuss the situation on Wednesday.
Following clashes between Palestinians and Israeli police in Jerusalem, the violence has been escalating since Monday night, with Palestinian militants firing rockets towards Jerusalem and the Israeli army launching air strikes at targets in Gaza - which is ruled by a Palestinian militant group called Hamas.
The past few days have seen the worst violence for years.

- In the UK, more than 10 million people are deaf or hard of hearing, including 50,000 children. Deaf Awareness Week runs from 4-9 May and this year the theme is 'Coming Through It Together'.
It's a week all about educating the hearing community about how to be an ally to those in the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. In this case, being an ally means to try to learn about the difficulties deaf people face and help in any way you can.

- Climate change impacts lots of things in our world, from sea levels to strange weather. But it also affects sea life. A study has shown that the temperature of the sand is changing in some areas and this affects green sea turtle eggs.
Warmer sands mean that 99% of all hatched green sea turtle eggs are hatching as female. This could result in these turtles becoming extinct - a team from WWF (The World Wildlife Fund) have come up with a plan to help.

- Today it's 35 years since an accident that changed the world. In 1986, the Chernobyl nuclear power station, in Ukraine, exploded.
At the time, Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union, made up of Russia and other nearby countries. The Soviet Union was a communist state, and liked to say that it was more powerful, and had better technology, than other countries.
The explosion threw dangerous radiation into the air, for people who lived around the power plant, their lives changed forever. They had to leave their homes and their city, and never go back. The city still lies empty.
One of those people was Olena, who was 13 at the time of the disaster. This is her story...

- Last month, it was announced all children in Wales will be taught about racism and the contributions of people from black, Asian and other ethnic minority communities from 2022. Welsh Education Minister Kirsty Williams said the change would help pupils become "informed citizens of the world".
Secondary school student and youth parliament member for Cardiff Angel Ezeadum helped campaign for black history to be taught in Welsh schools. She's spoken out a lot about the importance of including black history in the Welsh curriculum and even gave a speech in the Welsh Youth Parliament on the issue.
Newsround spoke to the 16-year-old to find out why she decided to get involved and how she feels about the recent changes.

- Football star Marcus Rashford is swapping the pitch for the kitchen, as he tries to get the nation cooking healthier food. The Manchester United and England striker has teamed up with award-winning chef, Tom Kerridge, to launch a new scheme called Full Time.
The scheme launches today, and is backed by social media companies Facebook and Instagram. Full Time wants to make sure that as many children as possible can eat a healthier diet. Rashford was awarded an MBE in 2020 for his campaign to stop child food poverty.

- According to the RHS, if you like being outdoors, digging in the dirt and getting messy - you are a gardener. Well, gardening jobs do not get much more messy than making seed bombs!
They are super easy and cheap to put together, and are a brilliant way to add pops of colour to your garden.
The wildflowers that grow from them will also create habitats for garden creatures and creepers, as well as helping bees and other pollinators too.
