Hospitals across England are experiencing medicine shortages due to "stockpiling and price pressure as the Brexit deadline approaches", NHS Providers has told BBC Newsnight.
The trade association warned some trusts had seen shortages of up to 160 different drugs in the past six weeks.
This was compared with just 25 to 30 drugs in normal times, it said.
The Department of Health said there was "no evidence" the "small number of supply issues" were related to Brexit.

It has emerged that the family of Breck Bednar, the 14-year-old groomed and murdered by a man he met online, are being taunted on social media.
Chloe Bednar alleges Lewis Daynes, who killed her brother Breck in Grays, Essex, has sent sick messages online. Chloe Bednar says the messages include information only Lewis Daynes would know, but there is no way of verifying if it’s true.
Social media company Snapchat has claimed the police need to go through a one year process to access the information. The company has been criticised for the delay in handing over data to police.
Daynes is currently serving a life sentence for the murder.

Our correspondent, Deb Cohen, previously reported on the case of Shauna Davison - a 15-year-old girl with serious respiratory problems - who died shortly after receiving experimental stem cell surgery. The report raised important questions over whether the operation should have ever taken place.
Deb Cohen now reports on how flawed data have contributed to clinical decisions that may have resulted in other deaths. What's more, the scientific journal publishing the data knows it to be false.
Joining Emily Maitlis to dicsuss the matter further is Norman Lamb, former health minister and current chairman of the science and technology committee.
Newsnight asked the Lancet for comment, but they declined.
