- Iditarod race officials announced Monday that four-time Iditarod champion Dallas Seavey was the musher whose dogs tested positive for a prohibited opioid painkiller in the 2017 race.
The announcement follows two weeks of speculation after the race's governing board, the Iditarod Trail Committee Board of Directors, released a statement that "several" dogs on one 2017 Iditarod team tested positive for a "prohibited substance."
On Tuesday, Seavey spoke with Alaska Dispatch News reporter Tegan Hanlon, explaining his side of the story.

- A 32-year-old woman was pepper-sprayed, shocked with a Taser and arrested on terroristic threatening charges Tuesday morning near the Anchorage Museum after telling authorities she planned to detonate an explosive in her backpack. The incident occurred about 7:50 a.m., when museum security called Anchorage police for backup. A woman was refusing to leave a loading dock area on Sixth Avenue near A Street, police spokesman MJ Thim said. She had threatened the security officers with a knife, he said. When police arrived, the woman was hiding behind a stairwell, Thim said.

The mixed-use building, with apartments above three retail spaces, was to welcome its first resident Wednesday morning. The site, at 36th Avenue and Spenard Road, used to include a strip club. The housing authority bought the property at a U.S. Marshals auction and spent three years prepping the site before beginning construction.
