The Jaxson William Augustus Swank, or JWAS Foundation, offers financial assistance to kids from preschool through college so they can achieve their academic dreams.
The foundation is in memory of a Jaxson, who died just short of his second birthday.
Executive Director Jeanie Shuck stopped by ABC57 Thursday morning to share more about the foundation and how scholars are supported throughout the years.

- HICKORY CORNERS, Mich., --- The latest ABC57 Road Trip took our team to the Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners Michigan. It’s the largest car museum in North America dedicated to showcasing hundreds of vehicles on the road, both new and old.
Don and Genevieve Gilmore revved up the Gilmore Car Museum with just 60 cars back in 1966, and now the museum has over 400 vehicles on display across its historic campus.
“We have 90 acres, 29 buildings, seven partner museums plus the Gilmore, it's like going to eight museums in one. We have two restaurants and a ballroom and a theater, and we have over 100 campsites,” said Ken Fischang, the Director of Commercial Operations at the museum. “We're driven by history, to tell the story of the automobile and on American history and how that impacts our daily lives today.”

- WHITING, Ind., --- ABC57 Road Trip stopped in Whiting, Indiana, just 30 minutes away from Chicago, to check out the Mascot Hall of Fame, an interactive children's museum dedicated to all things mascots.
“It's the only one of its kind. There's a history of mascots in here, you can see all the bright inflatable heads. You can see everything going on,” said Al Spajer, the Director of Community Engagement at the Mascot Hall of Fame.
Spajer, who is known to the kids as “Grandpa Mascot” has worked at the museum since it opened nearly five years ago, back in 2018.
He said the interactive experience offers so much more than just seeing the 29 carefully selected collegiate and professional mascots, like Blue from the Indianapolis colts or Benny of the Chicago Bulls, that sit in the museum.

The production has been running since August 11, but audiences have one more chance to see the show Friday night.

- The South Bend Museum of Art is bringing back Kid Beat to Art Beat this year.
Kid Beat runs alongside the Art Beat on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Activities take place at the end of the Jefferson Boulevard Bridge near the Century Center.
Kids can get a hands-on with their creative side. There's a drop in painting and chalk art stations. SBMA is also holding traditional ceramic demonstrations from noon to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

- SOUTH BEND, Ind. - South Bend Riley head coach Darrick Lee, in his second year at the helm, is gearing up his team for what looks to be a competitive season on the south side of South Bend.
The Wildcats are coming off a (5-5) season last year and haven't been above .500 since 2018. Coach Lee wants to be more of the aggressor this season. "We want to kind of be the bullies on the block, if you will".
"Coach Lee said if you want to go 5-5 again, do the same stuff we did last year. He's really been on us about showing up, being leaders and helping the younger cats out." said Riley senior Dominick Jolley.
Riley will kick off the season on the road at John Glenn on August 25.
