- A man was arrested on Tuesday for the rape and sexual extortion of a woman he had coerced into sex by threatening to call immigration enforcement on her if she didn’t comply, according to South Salt Lake Police.
The man, 57, whose identity is being withheld to protect family members, was arrested in Salt Lake County on one count of rape (first-degree felony) and one count of sexual extortion (third-degree felony).

- High winds in Utah caused significant damage and impacted thousands of residents throughout the state.
According to Rocky Mountain Power, approximately 8500 customers were without power throughout Utah, with clusters of outages throughout Salt Lake County. At the peak of issues, there were approximately 150 outages. Now, as of 9:00 p.m., there are 89 active outages, still impacting more than 3700 customers.

- A multi-agency investigation led to the arrest of a convenience store owner who was allegedly selling nicotine products and alcohol to minors.
The Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS) announced today that they have arrested 39-year-old Saif Al-Fatlawi, who owns several convenience stores in Salt Lake and Davis County. Al-Fatlawi has reportedly been selling alcohol, nicotine, e-cigarettes, and cannabinoid products to minors.
DPS confirmed that they executed coordinated business search warrants at three of Al-Fatlawi’s businesses, alongside the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD), and Murray Police Department (MPD).

Millcreek firefighters responded to the scene. While mechanics worked on the truck, fire personnel used a hose to mist the trailer and keep the bees “cool, calm, and safe in the heat,” UFA said.
