- Weather Impact Alert: Flood Watch until Friday morning
- Runtime
- 3:25
- Date posted
- Description
- A Flood Watch has been issued for most of the area until Friday morning.
A wet and stormy pattern is setting up this week as deep tropical moisture combines with an approaching front. Expect multiple rounds of heavy rain and a few thunderstorms Monday through Thursday.
Some of the heaviest downpours could produce rainfall rates of 3 to 6 inches per hour, increasing the risk of street flooding and flash flooding. Keep rain gear nearby all week and never drive through flooded roadways, especially after dark when water depth is difficult to judge.
The good news is temperatures will stay somewhat lower thanks to the clouds and rain, with afternoon highs mainly in the 80s.
By the weekend, tropical moisture should begin to move out, leading to fewer showers and a return to hotter temperatures.

A disturbance currently over northern Mexico is expected to move along the Texas coast late Tuesday in...

- Monday Noon Tropical Update: Potential tropical development in the Gulf
- Runtime
- 2:10
- Date posted
- Description
- The National Hurricane Center is highlighting a broad area of low pressure over eastern Mexico for possible tropical development.
Development is not expected over the next day or two while the system remains inland over northeastern Mexico or southern Texas. It could re-emerge over the northwestern Gulf around midweek as it interacts with a front, but conditions only look marginally favorable for development.
Regardless of development, moisture from this system will help bring a wetter pattern to the Gulf South this week. Heavy downpours will be possible across Southeast Louisiana and South Mississippi, and some could lead to flooding.
Forecast models still differ on the exact track. Some bring the deepest tropical moisture into Louisiana by the middle of the week, while others keep it focused farther west over Texas. Either way, periods of heavy rain appear increasingly likely across the central Gulf Coast Tuesday through Thursday.

- Tropics Update: Rainmaker near the Texas coast this week
- Runtime
- 6:39
- Date posted
- Description
- The National Hurricane Center is now giving a tropical disturbance near the eastern coast of Mexico a 20% chance of development over the next seven days.
While development remains unlikely, the system is expected to move northward and interact with a stalled front near the Gulf Coast. That interaction is more important than whether it receives a name or designation.
Forecast models still differ on the exact track. Some bring the deepest tropical moisture into Louisiana by the middle of the week, while others keep it focused farther west over Texas. Either way, periods of heavy rain appear increasingly likely across the central Gulf Coast Tuesday through Thursday.

For nearly two decades, Helen Hill's family has searched for answers.
The filmmaker and mother was murdered inside her New Orleans home in January 2007. Her husband, Paul Gailiunas, survived after being shot while protecting their 2-year-old son.
But as WWL investigative reporter Katie Moore dug deeper into the case, troubling questions emerged about the investigation itself.
Did police unfairly suggest that Paul wasn't cooperating? What does the case file actually show? And how did concerns about evidence handling impact one of New Orleans' most high-profile unsolved murders?
