Investigators said the individual threw the agent to the ground and got on top of him before the agent opened fire, fatally striking him.
The agent was taken to the hospital. A nearby middle school was briefly placed on lockdown, but the lockdown has since been lifted.
MDSO’s Homicide Bureau is investigating.

The victims were identified as Rolando Aleman Leon, 55; Yoel Rodriguez Naranjo, 53; Julio C. Pineda, 75; Carlos Acosta Fajardo, 53; and Javierkys Reyes Quevedo, 47.
Five others were hospitalized. The pilot and co-pilot have since been released, while three victims remain hospitalized, including two in critical condition.
The NTSB continues to investigate the crash as two of MIA’s four runways remain closed.

- A family of four is missing after their plane went down near the Bahamas while headed to Miami Executive Airport.
The plane took off from Great Harbour Cay and is believed to have gone down about 15 miles west of Andros Island with Mario Lamar, his wife, Lily Lamar, and their two grandchildren, Christian and Sophie Sosa, on board.
The U.S. Coast Guard is assisting Bahamian authorities in the search as relatives plead for help finding their loved ones and bringing them home safely.

The plane took off from Great Harbour Cay and is believed to have gone down about 15 miles off Andros Island, authorities said.
