- The World Health Organization on Friday released new guidelines on who should wear masks and where they should be worn, amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Business Insider, everyone in areas with community transmission should wear a face mask when social distancing isn't feasible.
Likewise, people over 60 and those who have underlying health conditions should wear a medical mask in spaces where social distancing is difficult.
Healthcare workers in areas with widespread transmission should also wear medical masks, not just those working with novel coronavirus patients.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom also stressed that masks alone do not protect people from the coronavirus.

- Barataria Bay is a marshy jewel in the heart of the vast Louisiana bayou. Its unparalleled natural ecosystem was once a hideout for smugglers and malcontents like Jean Lafitte, who ruled the labyrinth of marshlands and estuaries. By the early 20th century, oil and gas had taken over the marshlands, and levees reined in the mighty Mississippi River and redirected it toward the Gulf of Mexico. Now, pipelines and canals crisscross the bayou, but the 15-mile Barataria Bay that runs along the Mississippi River remains one of America’s richest fishing grounds, with an abundant assortment of shrimp, crab, oysters and commercial seafood that’s a big part of the state’s $2.4 billion fishing industry today.

You should get tested if you can but you don’t have to say that you were at a protest.
If you aren’t able to get tested, you should act as though you may have been exposed.
Limit your contact with other people for the next two weeks, says Gizmodo.
Some develop the infection 2 days post-exposure, but 5 to14 days after is more common.
So getting tested the day after the protest isn’t going to determine if you’re now infected.

This move was thought to quell the protests in Washington, D.C. reports Business Insider.
However, his idea to do the same in the states has provoked grave concerns among lawmakers.
"Once you start talking about federalizing the response, once you talk about using active-duty military forces in this law-enforcement capacity, that's when it gets both confusing to the public and potentially dangerous," a former Defense Department spokesperson
Many former military leaders and civil rights groups have been outspoken about their agreement.
The difference between National Guard service members versus their active-duty counterparts is stark.

- Description
- UPI reports 35% of Americans get 'poor' or 'fair' sleep, and one in five say they don't wake up feeling refreshed.
According to researchers from the University of California - Berkeley, that's putting those Americans at increased risk for heart disease.
Atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries, is caused by chronic inflammation.
It's believed to be the underlying cause of roughly half of all cases of heart disease -- and all heart disease-related deaths -- worldwide.
Sleep loss has been linked with chronic inflammation in multiple studies.
The connection may be that fragmented sleep increases inflammation, which in turn raises a person's risk for atherosclerosis and stroke.

Now, Business Insider reports tear gas sprayed at protesters by the police could be making the spread of the novel coronavirus even worse.
Tear gas is a chemical agent that causes burning in the eyes, noses, throat, lungs, and skin, and makes people cough and retch.
If sprayed on an infected person, it could lead the virus to spread more quickly and widely.
Some studies have also shown that after tear-gas exposure, people are more likely to be diagnosed with respiratory illnesses.

According to UPI, a significant number of Americans may have delayed or declined emergency care because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Some public health experts say a fundamental change in how ERs are used could be a lasting legacy of the novel coronavirus.
Dr. Paul Biddinger says many patients who once addressed health concerns by heading to the ER can now be seen remotely, via telemedicine.
