Remember that chaotic scene where Newark Mayor Ray Baraka was arrested? The case against him fell apart within days. But federal prosecutors filed new charges, this time against U.S. Rep. LaMonica McIver, claiming she struck and “slammed her forearm into” officers and “tried to restrain” them while interfering with Baraka’s arrest.
McIver says she’s the one who was assaulted by the officers. In a new filing last week, she argued her behavior was constitutionally protected oversight by a member of Congress and that the Trump supporters who stormed the U.S. Capitol got lighter treatment.
