- Surveillance video released shows a high school principal tackling a gunman who had opened fire in the school in Oklahoma.
The moment captured on the school's security camera came after the suspect opened fire at Pauls Valley High School on April 7. The school's principal, Kirk Moore, can be seen sprinting into the school's lobby, then tackles the gunman onto a bench and holds him down. Moore was shot in the leg at some point during the attack, but no students were injured.
Police arrested Victor Lee Hawkins, a 20-year-old former student, who has been charged with unlawfully carrying a firearm, shooting with intent to kill and pointing a firearm.

- NASA Artemis II astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, and CSA (Canadian Space Agency) astronaut Jeremy Hansen are set to return to Earth following a record-breaking 10-day mission around the Moon.
The Orion spacecraft carrying the four astronauts is expected to re-enter Earth's atmosphere before splashing down off the coast of San Diego around 8:07pm EDT (5:07pm PDT) on Friday, April 10.
Within two hours after splashdown, the crew will be extracted from Orion by recovery teams in helicopters, and then flown to the USS John P. Murtha. Aboard the ship, the astronauts will undergo post‑mission medical evaluations before being taken to shore to board an aircraft bound for NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.

- Unlike the Apollo program, Artemis aims not just for the so-called flags-and-footprints model of short, one- to three-day stays on the moon, but for a long-term presence at a long-term moon base in the south lunar pole, where deposits of ice can provide drinkable water, breathable oxygen, and oxygen-hydrogen rocket fuel. Very much like the Apollo program, Artemis finds itself in a closely watched moon race, not with the old Soviet Union this time, but with China, which has announced its intention to have astronauts on the moon by 2030.
