- The Metropolitan Police are reviewing CCTV from the day Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s former chief of staff had his phone stolen, according to reports.
The loss of ex-top aide Morgan McSweeney’s phone means that important messages relating to Lord Peter Mandelson’s appointment as US ambassador will not be placed in the public domain.
It comes after MPs moved in February to force the publication of tens of thousands of documents with the aim of uncovering how much was known about Lord Mandelson’s links to Jeffrey Epstein before the peer was handed the Washington job.

- Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has promised a “fight” with social media firms over efforts to keep children away from mobile phone, tablet and TV screens.
Parents have been searching for what is appropriate screen time and social media use for their children without any help, Sir Keir said as he visited a school in South London.
The Government has now issued guidance that advises parents of younger children to limit screen time for two to five-year-olds to an hour a day, and less if possible.
For children under two, screen time should be avoided unless for shared activities that encourage children to interact with others, parents have also been advised.
The Prime Minister said: “When there’s a lot going on, when children are having a tantrum, trying to find something to distract them is an obvious thing and I don’t think parents and carers have had any guidance at all yet about what would be appropriate, what might be best....

In a potentially precedent-setting ruling on Wednesday in Los Angeles, a jury ruled that Google, owner of YouTube, and Meta, which operates Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, built platforms to hook young users without regard for their wellbeing.
The lawsuit, brought after a young woman argued a childhood addiction to social media had exacerbated her mental health issues, could influence the outcomes of thousands of similar cases which accuse social media firms of causing harm.
Asked if the landmark trial pointed to a shift in public mood with expectation of more aggressive regulation, Sir Keir told reporters: “I think it does, and obviously we’ll study that ruling very carefully, but I’m absolutely clear that we need to go further.

Save Face, a government approved register for non-surgical cosmetic treatments, has long campaigned for stricter regulations on “tweakments” like Botox and dermal filler, but now Harley Street’s medical physicians have joined the effort to crack down on cowboy cosmeticists.
The street, which boasts one of the highest concentrations of private medical clinics in the world, now hosts a collection of “tweakment hotels”, where rooms are available to rent for as little as £120 per hour.

Three ambulances belonging to the charity Hatzola were completely destroyed and a fourth was partially damaged in the blaze, which is being treated as an antisemitic hate crime.
Heat from the fire caused oxygen cylinders on board the vehicles to explode, blowing out a nearby synagogue’s stained-glass windows and shattering windows in an adjacent block of flats as high as the fourth floor. No injuries were reported.

President Donald Trump said he was postponing any strikes against Iran's power plants for five days, citing what he said were "productive conversations" with Tehran to end the war. Markets surged and oil prices dropped on the news.
Iran responded by saying that there had been no direct talks and that Trump's move was designed to lower energy prices and "buy time" for his military plans. Tehran had threatened to strike electricity targets across the region if Trump followed through on his threat to "obliterate" the country's power network unless it opened the crucial Strait of Hormuz shipping route by tonight.

- President Donald Trump pledged that Israel would make no more attacks on Iran’s major South Pars gas field, but if Iran attacked Qatar again, the US would retaliate and “massively blow up the entirety” of the field.
Mr Trump made his threat on his Truth Social site as the war roiled global energy markets and Iranian missiles hit Qatar.
“I do not want to authorise this level of violence and destruction because of the long term implications that it will have on the future of Iran,” Mr Trump said, but added that he would “not hesitate to do so,” if Qatar’s liquified natural gas sites were attacked again.

He said: “I am their Prime Minister, and this is their Government and I will never give up on that fight.

- Description
- Donald Trump has been given a crystal bowl of shamrock by Irish premier Micheal Martin, who told the US president he and European leaders could work together to resolve differences in relation to the war with Iran.
It comes amid frictions between European leaders and Mr Trump after he said he expected Europe’s co-operation on a bombing campaign launched with Israel against Iran.
The US president hosted the Taoiseach in the White House on St Patrick’s Day, with the shamrock gifting ceremony acting as the culmination of days of US-Irish engagements organised each year to mark Ireland’s national day.
Mr Martin presented Mr Trump with the shamrock as he called for as “few barriers and tariffs” around trade “as possible”, and said Ireland’s own history should show negotiation, de-escalation and “international rules and order” were essential to peace and security around the world.

The majority of young people born before 2015 are not protected against meningitis B unless they have had the jab privately. It was introduced on the NHS for babies in 2015.

He appeared to criticise Sir Keir for seeking the advice of aides on the issue of Hormuz following a call between the two leaders on Sunday, claiming the Prime Minister had said he was “meeting with my team” before making a decision.

He stressed: "Our priority is always the national interest, and so we have been clear and consistent in our objectives throughout this conflict.
"First, we will protect our people in the region.

"And third, we will keep working towards a swift resolution that brings security and stability back to the region."

- Twelve arrests made amid Al Quds Day demonstration and counter protest
- Runtime

- Date posted
- Description
- The Metropolitan Police said it made 12 arrests amid a protest and counter-protest during the Al Quds Day demonstration.
Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan said: “We saw significantly fewer people attend than we had anticipated. The restrictions and conditions meant many people chose to stay away and not to attend the protest or counter-protest.
“This shows our decision to apply for the ban was the right one. A static protest meant it was easier for officers to keep the two groups apart and prevent serious public disorder.
“We made 12 arrests, including for showing support for a proscribed organisation, affray and for threatening or abusive behaviour. We are also investigating chants made by a speaker at the Al Quds protest.
“As I said from the outset, the decision to ban the protest march does not set a precedent and we will continue to consider each protest on a case-by-case basis.”
