“Our culture, our pride” was the theme for this year’s Cultural Day at St Joseph Tenaru Catholic National Secondary School.
The event was held at the school compound on Saturday, March 7, where students gathered to celebrate and showcase the rich cultural diversity of the Solomon Islands.
School Principal Mr. Jeoffrey Poea said the cultural celebration is an annual event on the school’s calendar that allows students to present and share the traditions of their different ethnic groups.
He said the event provides an important opportunity for students to learn about their cultural identity while also appreciating the cultures of others.

This year’s International Women’s Day falls today, Sunday March 8, 2026, with the theme “Rights, Equality, Action for All Women and Girls.”
To mark the occasion, Island Sun News spoke with several women working in the media industry to hear their views on the importance of the day, challenges they face as women journalists, and their messages to young women who aspire to pursue careers in journalism.
International Women’s Day is celebrated around the world every year.
In Honiara, celebrations will be held from Tuesday 10 to Wednesday 11 March at the Honiara City Council Multi-Purpose Hall outdoor.
