- The Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP) & Bankruptcy: How We Can Help
Friday, October 8, 2010
HAMP is a federal program designed to help struggling homeowners stay in their homes by modifying their monthly mortgage payments to make the payments more affordable. Though not all homeowners will qualify for this program, for those who do, HAMP may provide a real opportunity to save their homes. This video provides a basic overview of what HAMP is and how it works, particularly within the bankruptcy context.
While this video was prepared primarily for the private chapter 7 and chapter 13 trustees who handle the day-to-day administration of bankruptcy cases, anyone interested in gaining a general understanding of HAMP will find it helpful.

- Description
- Attorney General Eric Holder announced today that the Department of Justice is partnering with Facebook and Bing in order to expand the reach of the AMBER Alert system—an early warning system designed to help find and return abducted children. Facebook, already an AMBER Alert partner, will now begin sending alerts, along with detailed information and photographs, to its members in designated search areas. And Bing will begin allowing users to access AMBER Alerts through its online tools. Attorney General Holder also noted that finding an abducted child and returning him or her to safety depends on a fast response, and he urged companies, organizations and citizens to step forward and do their part by offering whatever assistance they can provide. For more information on how to get involved, please go to AMBERAlert.gov or www.missingkids.com.

- Attorney General Holder Announces U.S. Now Has Smallest Corrections Population Since 2003

- Date posted
- Description
- Attorney General Eric Holder announced today that the number of persons supervised by U.S. adult correctional systems – in prison or jail, or on probation or parole – fell below 6.9 million individuals at the end of 2013. This drop leaves the United States with the smallest population under the authority of adult correctional supervision in nearly a decade. Attorney General Holder also noted that, during the Obama Administration, overall crime has decreased by over 15 percent, while overall incarceration has decreased by nearly 9 percent – the first time these two critical markers have declined together in more than 40 years. And he reaffirmed that the Justice Department will remain committed to justice reform efforts—like the Smart on Crime initiative—that strengthen our criminal justice system; live up to our founding ideals; and help to build the safer, more just society that all Americans deserve.
