This week on our Inside Geneva podcast, we ask whether the world has forgotten women in Afghanistan.
Under Taliban rule, they cannot work, go to secondary school, leave the house alone or even visit a public park.
Human rights defenders say the world is looking away. Some argue that what’s happening in Afghanistan amounts to gender apartheid and want it recognised as a crime under international law.
They also warn that if the repression of women in Afghanistan is not challenged, it could happen in other countries too.

- Description
- Switzerland’s trains may run on mostly on renewable electricity, but the country still depends heavily on fossil fuels.
Transport accounts for the biggest share, driven by cars, trucks and frequent air travel. At the same time, roughly half of residential buildings are heated with oil or natural gas.
Reducing Switzerland's dependence on imported fossil fuels will be critical if it is to meet its net-zero goal for 2050.

At the height of the event, around 91–93% of the Sun was obscured by the Moon. Shortly afterwards, the Sun disappeared below the horizon.
A total solar eclipse was visible in parts of Iceland, Greenland, Spain and Portugal. Those who missed the spectacle will not have to wait too long. On August 2, 2027, another total solar eclipse will be visible in southern Spain.
But you will have to wait much longer to see a total eclipse in Switzerland: not until September 3, 2081. A partial solar eclipse will be visible next year.
