- Description
- On Monday, over 5,000 people came together to commemorate and pay tribute to the enduring legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the annual MLK Jr. Day march. Now in its 42nd year, the event centered around the theme "We Rise Against Project 2025." Some topics on the marchers' minds included the conflict in Gaza, women's reproductive rights, voting rights, LGBTQ rights, and civil rights. For City of Seattle employee Martin Norman, named after Martin Luther King, Jr., coming to the march with his son Justus has been a tradition since his son was born. "We've always had hope ... we endure, and we keep pushing on," said Norman.

Harkaway just released “Karla’s Choice: A John le Carré Novel,” a new installment in the saga that stars le Carre’s most iconic character, Cold War spy George Smiley. Set in the decade between “The Spy Who Came in from the Cold” and “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy,” with Smiley as an intelligence agent at the Circus (le Carré’s fictionalized version of Britain’s MI6), this book will have fans sprinting to re-read both. Harkaway talks about the challenges of writing a book in the middle of a series, his relationship with his father, and how the books fit into Cold War and British history.
