- The Office of Sustainability and Environment (OSE) released their Environmental Justice (EJ) Fund 5-year Impact Report which highlights investments made in community-led environmental and climate justice efforts focused on projects between 2018 and 2022.
The Impact Report revealed that Seattle awarded more than $2.6 million to 43 groups for 53 total community-led climate projects in the program’s first 5 years. In that time, community groups requested $10.7 million from the Fund to support their projects, ranging from sharing climate stories through arts and writing, to boots-on-the-ground (or in the mud) environmental restoration work.
The Environmental Justice Fund supports local efforts that are led by and benefit communities most impacted by environmental and climate issues: Black, Indigenous, People of Color, immigrants, refugees, people with low incomes, youth, and elders.

- Description
- King County’s homeless population has jumped 26% since 2022, despite heavy spending and tireless efforts. The regional approach to addressing the issue has been controversial, with uneven support outside Seattle. New King County Regional Homelessness Authority (KCRHA) leader Dr. Kelly Kinnison goes one-on-one with host Brian Callanan to tackle tough questions about community frustration, funding challenges, and how her pragmatic approach will make a difference.
Correction: Around the 11-minute mark of this interview, Dr. Kelly Kinnison misspoke regarding the HUD Continuum of Care funding. The KCRHS expects to receive $23M out of $67M from the HUD Continuum of Care funding. The balance is split with King County and 5 other non-profits.
