The Republican Party has toned down the rhetoric about the deep state and any talk of vengeance against former President Donald Trump's political enemies in this year's Republican National Convention. With Trump in a commanding polling lead following a near-assassination, the convention's theme is "unity."
"Just like our ancestors, we must now come together, rise above past differences. Any disagreements have to be put aside, and go forward united as one people, one nation, pledging allegiance to one great, beautiful—I think it's so beautiful—American flag," Trump said in his closing speech.
The Trump supporters Reason spoke to at the convention weren't particularly heated, and m...

America's national debt is out of control. More than $8.1 trillion was added to the gross federal debt under the Trump administration, according to U.S. Treasury Department estimates. (The Congressional Budget Office, which uses debt held by the public and excludes debt owed to government agencies, estimates that Trump signed legislation adding $7.8 trillion in publicly held debt over the next ten years.)
Reason's Zach Weissmueller asked delegates and attendees at the 2024 Republican National Convention whether Donald Trump is going to do anything about the debt should he be elected for a second term. Where does former President Donald Trump want to take this country?
As the Republican Party coronates Trump as its presidential nominee at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, there will be a lot of talk about Trump's vice presidential pick, his dominance in the polls, and the decline of President Joe Biden. But what about policy? What is the Trump agenda? Trump's opponents implore us to fear Project 2025, a Heritage Foundation proposal that they characterize as a vengeful, authoritarian power grab. Reason attended the Republican National Convention to uncover who the delegates and attendees think libertarians should vote for in the 2024 election.

For much of history, parents have preferred boys, perceiving them as the providers, the family legacy, the heirs to the throne. A dark consequence of China's 36-year-long one-child policy was a 120 boy to 100 girl birth ratio. But in 21st-century America, the script seems to have been flipped. The New York Times has run headlines like "Wanting Daughters, Getting Sons" and "It's a Boy, and It's Okay to be Disappointed." - Is Trump immune from prosecution?

- Description
- Donald Trump is accused of interfering in the 2020 election for his conduct on January 6. At the Supreme Court, he argued former presidents can be prosecuted for official acts only if they are first impeached by the House and convicted by the Senate for the same conduct. The Court rejected that argument.
What it did rule is former presidents are entitled to "absolute" immunity for actions related to their core constitutional powers, "presumptive" immunity for other "official acts," and no immunity for unofficial acts. #SCOTUS #Trump #elections #politics

- A Christian group called WallBuilders wanted to put this ad in D.C.’s busses. But the D.C. transportation authority said no, citing rules that prohibit ads that attempt to persuade people on matters of opinion.
If you think that sounds like a really vague rule, you’re right. It's why a federal judge finally decided to block enforcement on First Amendment grounds. #freespeech #advertising #washingtondc
