- The Beaver Dam Tourism Commission had its first ever "Concert in the Park" Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, as a way to give the citizens of Beaver Dam a idea of what they have planned for the near future. The concert featured a local/regional rock and country group, Insulated, followed by the Parrots of the Caribbean, followed by headliner and country star John Michael Montgomery. This video features an original song by Insulated called Leavin' Town. Officials also unveiled sketches of a new large amphitheater that will be built in the park by sometime next year.

- Charlotte Whittaker, AARP executive council member/Repair Affair coordinator, presented the family of the late Brad Critchelow with a plaque for his dedication and hard work to the Repair Affair projects over many years. The presentation was made prior to the Sept. 24, 2013, meeting of the Ohio County Fiscal Court meeting. Accepting the award was Critchelow's sister, Amanda Critchelow Howard and daughter, Jazz, and mother, Gail Critchelow.
Repair Affair is an event when volunteers go out to homes of the elderly and less fortunate and perform needed home improvements and repairs.

- Every year Luttrell Farms in Olaton, Ky., host Ag Days and 2013 was no different. Ag Days is where local elementary school children, usually 4th or 5th grade, come to the farm to learn about agriculture and farming. This year the Luttrells hosted "Family Night at the Farm" where the children's parents could come see what it is that they learn about.
One of the highlights of Ag Days is the Warren RECC Electrical Demonstration. For Family Night they put on this demonstration at dark for the first time. It offers a lot of information about how electrical workers do their job along with some interesting visuals and sounds. Sept. 5, 2013

- James Monroe opens and dedicates the newly restored Uncle Pen's cabin on Thursday, March 21, 2013, in Rosine, Ky. Pendleton Vandiver was the uncle of James' father, Bill Monroe the father of Bluegrass music. Bill credited Uncle Pen with inspiring him to play music. The opening celebration featured barbeque and hours of bluegrass music by James Monroe and many other musicians despite temperatures in the upper 30-degree range. Gabrielle Gray with the International Bluegrass Museum in Owensboro spoke as well as Ohio County Judge Executive David Johnston and former judge executive Dudley Cooper. Michael Cleveland, a nine-time fiddle player of the year, played Blue Moon of Kentucky on Uncle Pen's fiddle which is displayed in Owensboro at the International Bluegrass Museum. The cabin will be open to the public on a regular basis.

Those recognized were Samuel H. - Beaver Dam held its annual Christmas celebration on Saturday night, Dec. 1, which featured an afternoon and evening of activities including the city tree lighting, Christmas parade and even a fireworks display at the new baseball park. The parade was well attended by thousands of people that were presented with a large parade that last over 45 minutes with dozens of floats. This video is the entire parade with the exception of a few extended breaks in the floats edited out.
