The Fordham Road bus corridor, the busiest in the Bronx — where speeds average only 5 mph — will be transformed from curbside lanes to offset lanes, a project that the mayor says resulted in a 28% speed improvement in other boroughs.
Mamdani also announced improvements to Brooklyn’s bike network, including a fix for Ashland Place — referred to as “crashland place” by some cyclists — that will create a continuous protected bike route from Sunset Park to Dumbo.

NY1 investigative reporter Courtney Gross, political reporter Bobby Cuza, and political director Bob Hardt break down the state of the race for governor.
Then, Mayor Mamdani headed to Albany for what’s known as “Tin Cup Day,” making the case for new tax hikes on wealthy New Yorkers and businesses. The mayor struck a somewhat less pessimistic tone about the city’s budget outlook, a shift from his earlier warnings of a $12 billion budget deficit. The incident sparked an international debate about crime, fear, race, and justice, which persists to this day. This year, two new books about the shootings and its impact on America are getting a lot of attention: “Fear and Fury: The Reagan Eighties, the Bernie Getz Shootings, and The Rebirth of White Rage” by Heather Ann Thompson, and “Five Bullets: The Story of Bernie Goetz, New York's Explosive Eighties, and The Subway Vigilante Trial That Divided the Nation” by Elliot Williams.
Thompson and Williams joined Errol to discuss their books and why they felt compelled to write them more than 40 years after the shootings. - Underground Railroad stop found in Manhattan after 100 years
- Date posted

- Description
- The Underground Railroad ran through the Merchant's House Museum, historians can now confirm - the first confirmed discovered of an Underground Railroad entrance in Manhattan in over 100 years.
A dresser in the second floor of the house was found that had a hidden ladder that led down two stories into a small hideout area.
For years, there had been rumors that the house on East Fourth Street in NoHo, which was built in 1832, had a connection to freedom seekers. But until recently, there was not any evidence to support that.
New research done by the museum discovered that Joseph Brewster, who built the Merchant's House in 1832, had a deep connection to the abolitionist movement in the 1820s through the 1840s, and also designed blueprints for integrated churches in the area that had similar secret compartments designed for hiding freedom seekers. Historical architectural documents and old photographs confirm that the only reasonable use case for thi...
