Among those who have arrived are the former minister of education, Professor Tunde Adenira, Dr. Yemi Faroumbi, former governor of Oyo State, Dr Omololu Olunloyo, former managing directors of the Tribune titles, former management staff, representatives of companies in Ibadan, clerics, juju maestro, King Sunny Ade and many others.
Three governors, Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo), Akinwunmi Ambode (Lagos) and Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), on Monday led other dignitaries to witness the lying in state and tribute session for the Yeye Odua, Chief (Mrs) H.I.D. Awolowo.

Also in attendance at the ceremony were the wife of the Oyo State governor, Chief (Mrs) Florence Ajimobi; wife of the Osun State governor, Chief (Mrs) Sefifat Aregbesola; wife of the Minister of Solid Minerals, Chief (Mrs) Bisi Fayemi.

The final home journey of the chairman/co-founder of the African Newspapers of Nigeria (ANN) Plc, Chief (Mrs) Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo, began in grand style, on Sunday.

‎The burial activities started in a colourful mood at her Ikenne home as early as 7.00 a.m. when family members and well-wishers dressed gaily for the journey to Lagos for her lying in state there.

Tribune Online learnt that a ceremonial police parade Land Rover, with Ogun State and coat of arms as its number plate, had been on ground at Ikenne since Saturday.

Children of the Yeye Oodua, Reverend (Mrs) Omotola Oyediran and Dr (Mrs) Olatokunbo Awolowo Dosumu, were on ground to ensure a hitch-free journey and a successful take-off of the burial programmes.

After almost two years after destroying 51 hectares of cannabis sativa plants at Gambari Forest Reserve in Oluyole Local Government area of Oyo State, the Oyo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) returned to the same place on Thursday and destroyed a fresh 24 hectares of the illicit drug.
It would be noted that the forest reserve had been turned into a hemp farm by its growers as the Thursday exercise was the third in the last four years. Two others were carried out in 2011 and 2013.
The destruction was carried out by the NDLEA operatives with the assistance of the Oyo State government represented by the Ministry of Natural Resources and armed men from other security agencies such as the police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Directorate of State Services (DSS).

The serenity of Badeku community in Ona Ara Local Government was broken on Sunday, May 31, when the Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the Oyo State Police Command stormed Isase village in the community and burst a suspected kidnappers’ den, arresting a 43-year-old suspect, Ismail Adesina.
Items recovered from the den included a Toyota Camry (muscle) with registration Lagos AAA 125 DK, Nissan Almera car with registration number Lagos AGL 882 DF and Toyota Camry (Big Daddy) with registration number Lagos AAA 207 DH, fetish criminal charms, fake currencies and some antiquities.
The den had different carved images similar to those that had been discovered in different kidnappers’/ritualists’ den in the South West part of Nigeria, and were reportedly being used to deceive victims into believing that they were dealing with genuine native doctors.

A Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of a police station in Oyo State Police Command (names withheld) was, on Wednesday evening killed by hoodlums at Adekile Area of Ibadan, after rumours went round town that a kidnappers' den exists in a storey building in the area.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that the owner of the storey building had gone to a nearby police station to report that hoodlums were about to burn his house over an allegation of an existing kidnappers' den.
Two police teams were reportedly deployed to the area to assess the environment but nothing incrimnating or depicting a semblance of a terror den was found.
Unappeased, hoodlums in the area had insisted on burning the building, a situation which made the DPO to go to the scene to see things himself.
