- For the past 11 years, NHPBS and Strawbery Banke Museum have joined forces to put on the most unique beer and food pairing event in the Northeast, and every year we’re so grateful that you all keep coming back. This event has always been a critically important fundraiser for both Strawbery Banke Museum and New Hampshire PBS. Unfortunately, this year is a little different.
Through thoughtful discussions with the PASSPORT team and looking at the difficult landscape facing restaurants and brewers due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve regrettably decided to cancel the 2020 PASSPORT: CRAFT BEER AND FOOD PAIRING EVENT. We want to ensure that our patrons, chefs, brewmasters, volunteers and staff can all stay safe during this uncertain time.
Instead, we encourage you to show some love to all the restaurants and breweries that have supported us throughout the years. Eat locally, get take-out and buy gift cards to your favorite local establishments.
And we look forward to b...

- Description
- After months of remote learning and work, New Hampshire’s schools and economy are re-opening. But there is a disconnect: as many parents are being called back to work or their work demands shift, they are struggling to find ways to provide for their children within their school districts’ plans to continue with remote or hybrid learning. The state’s child care centers remained open through the pandemic at reduced capacity to serve the families of essential workers, and the state just doubled the number of people these centers could have in each room. There are spots available, Reporter Alexandra McOwen, who followed the child care issue for NHPR from March through July, tells us. But those spots do not always match a family’s specific needs, such as for children who are school-age or have special needs. The state is working to address this issue by encouraging innovation—such as neighborhood co-ops, expansion of Centers to outdoor learning spaces, and providing parents wit...

- Runtime

- Description
- Back in March a national moratorium on evicting tenants from certain properties was included as part of a federal coronavirus relief package. Under the order, tenants in properties backed by federal mortgage loans and housing programs, were able to stay in their homes even if they were unable to pay the rent. The moratorium, however, expired on July 25. As Congress grapples with the details of a second relief package, which may include an extension of the moratorium, many are concerned we could soon see a tsunami of evictions in the state. To find out what this means and what resources are available to Granite Staters we speak to Scott Merrill, Editor for the New Hampshire Bar News. And guest host Eva Castillo speaks to Maria Eveleth, Fair Housing Project Co-Director For New Hampshire Legal Assistance to further discuss eviction rules and resources.

- Description
- As concerns about coronavirus continue, New Hampshire state and local officials are grappling with how to keep their communities safe. Among the options is the question of whether to mandate face masks. Though the current science shows masks are effective at slowing the spread of the virus, there are some who are resistant to mandating that the public wear them. New Hampshire is the only state in New England without a statewide mandate. That leaves it up to local municipalities to make the decision. Rick Green, reporter for The Laconia Daily Sun and Mia Summerson, political reporter for The Keene Sentinel discuss how the mask debate is playing out across the Granite State.
