- Warm across England and Wales today as a band of patchy rain pushes south across Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northern England, with temperatures rising into the low to mid twenties in the autumnal sunshine across southern and eastern parts. Cooler and breezy in the north with sunny spells for northern Scotland after the rain. Overnight turning foggy again for some across central and southern regions, with the rain continuing across some northern and western parts. Remaining mild for most with temperatures widely staying in double digits.

A powerful Atlantic jet stream, energised in part by the remnants of former hurricanes over North America, will continue to drive deep areas of low pressure across the North Atlantic. However, rather than tracking directly across the UK, many of these storms are expected to pass to the north of Scotland as high pressure frequently builds across southern Britain.
That means a classic north-south split through much of the period. Northern parts of the UK can expect spells of wind and rain at times, while southern areas are likely to see longer dry spells, some sunshine, overnight mist and fog patches, and temperatures often remaining above average for early October.

- This afternoon there will be some blustery showers in the north of Scotland while a front brings wet weather mainly to the English channel but also to the far southeast of England, particularly Kent, where there may be some heavy bursts at times. Elsewhere, it will be a fine afternoon with sunny skies in the north and west, cloudier in the south and east. Temperatures will generally be slightly above average; mid to high teens for most but low twenties where cloudy in the southeast.

- A largely fine day with plentiful sunny spells for much of the UK after a chilly start, with temperatures rising to near average for the time of year this afternoon, following clearance of early fog. There will be generally light winds for England and Wales, where the sunshine may turn hazy. Breezier with some showers in the northwest (mainly Scotland), these tending to slowly fade away through the day as winds ease off a little. An increasing threat of rain in the far south and southeast later today, before an unseasonably warm day on Tuesday for parts of England and Wales.
