On Election Day in the Turks and Caicos Islands, a 55-year-old Canadian woman was severely injured after a tragic shark attack near the Blue Hills area. Witnesses say the woman was attempting to feed and photograph what is believed to be a tiger shark from the shallows — a decision that ended with the loss of both hands and part of her thigh.
Her husband reportedly fought off the 6–7 foot shark, while family members worked quickly to stop the bleeding — a move that may have saved her life.
🏥 She was rushed to Cheshire Hall Medical Centre and later returned to Montreal for further treatment.
Following the attack, authorities closed the beach, and the Department of Environment & Coastal Resources (DECR) launched an investigation.

Just days after a dominant election win, the Progressive National Party (PNP) has officially formed the new Government of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
On Saturday, Premier Washington Misick and Deputy Premier Jamell Robinson were sworn in by the Governor. By Thursday, the full Cabinet — now expanded to nine ministers — took their oaths in a formal ceremony, kicking off a constitutionally extended five-year term.

The Progressive National Party (PNP) has done it again — securing a historic 16 out of 19 seats in the Turks and Caicos Islands' 2025 General Election 🇹🇨.
In scenes of celebration at PNP headquarters, supporters roared as one winning candidate after another took the stage. From Five Cays to At-Large MPs, the message was clear: the people have spoken.
Despite a tough race, the PDM and one Independent candidate claimed the remaining three seats — with The Bight won by just one vote!
