- Capt. Arye Sharuz Shalicar addresses the world in Persian one year after the end of Operation Cast Lead. Despite Israel's complete withdrawal from Gaza and the Egyptian brokered ceasefire, Hamas continued to launch attacks at Israeli civilians. After Hamas put over a million Israeli civilians under the threat of rocket attack, Israel had no choice but to launch a campaign on December 28th, 2009.
Faced with an enemy that purposefully put its own population in harms way, the IDF made every effort to protect the lives of innocent civilians. Having sent thousands of SMSs, dropping over a million flyers, and broadcasting over Palestinians TV and radio waves, the IDF did everything it could to limit the amount of civilian casualties despite Hamas' strategy.
