“Their job isn’t to catch or fight the bear,” said NDOW on Facebook. “It’s to help restore a bear’s natural wariness of people by creating a negative experience in developed areas.”
The NDOW noted how this “encourages bears to leave neighborhoods behind and return to wild habitat, helping reduce future conflicts.”
