- Broadcasting pioneer Rex Howell is honored with induction into the Colorado Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame.
Howell was the founder of KREX-TV in Grand Junction and the first president of the Colorado Broadcasters Association. Beginning as a teenage broadcast engineer, he went on to build radio and television stations across Colorado’s Western Slope at a time when there was no established path for broadcasting west of the Rockies.
This segment traces Howell’s career from his early radio work in Denver to bringing television to rural Western Slope communities, connecting families across rugged terrain and laying the foundation for local broadcasting in the region. Though he passed away in 1976, his influence continues to shape local media today.

Gene O'Fallon is posthumously honored for his monumental contributions to the broadcasting industry. Beginning his career in Denver in 1923 with a 7.5-watt radio station, KFEL, Gene went on to establish KFEL TV, Channel 2, an important milestone in Colorado's broadcast history.
