- A major earthquake toppled buildings and sparked fires in Japan's Kumamoto Prefecture on Tuesday (Jul 28).
The 7.1-magnitude quake also knocked out power to thousands of homes, damaged roads and bridges, and left some trapped and others presumed dead inside a partially collapsed Aeon Mall.
Around 300,000 people have been told to go to evacuation centres, and hundreds of soldiers have been deployed to help with rescue operations as aftershocks continued to rumble.
