If he beats Reform and the other parties - and it's a big if - he will return to parliament to almost inevitably challenge and possibly destroy Keir Starmer's premiership.
Candidates have been announced by Labour, Reform UK, Restore Britain and the Monster Raving Loony Party. Other parties are expected to announce candidates before nominations close next week.

If not then the party faces an open contest.
Wes Streeting announced today that he supports Burnham in the by-election but also intends to run against him for Labour leader, while setting out his radical stall: for Britain to rejoin the EU.

Only one body has been recovered so far and it’s believed the other four are in the same place.
The cause of death hasn’t been confirmed and investigations are ongoing by Maldivian and Italian authorities.
This is one of the most serious diving accidents in the popular tourist destination.

Three cases have been identified in Reading, including one college student who died earlier this week. Close contacts are being offered antibiotics as a precaution, the UKHSA said.
Officials say the risk to the public from the meningitis outbreak is low.
It is not thought to be the same strain as the fatal outbreak in Kent earlier this year.
