These rare primates, recognized on the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List, are native to parts of central China, including Shaanxi, Sichuan, and Gansu. The footage, which was broadcast overnight on Iranian state television, was presented alongside footage of another ship, the Epaminiondas. Iran says both ships were seized after they tried to cross the Strait without permits.
The conflict between Iran, Israel and the U.S. is currently paused following a ceasefire announced on April 8. U.S. President Trump on Tuesday extended the deadline he set for Iran to make a deal indefinitely.
