“Our blockade is growing and going global,” he told reporters at the Pentagon. “No one sails from the Strait of Hormuz to anywhere in the world without the permission of the United States Navy.”
The secretary said the administration was in no rush to strike a deal with Iran, and warned the country’s leader to “choose wisely at the negotiating table.”

- President Trump on Thursday announced a three-week extension of the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon after meeting with diplomats from both countries at the White House.
“This is a rather historic meeting,” he said in the Oval Office. “We had a great conversation, and I think it’s the beginning of something very important. It would be a wonderful thing to get this worked out simultaneously with what we’re doing in Iran.”
The extension materialized during a second round of talks between the two countries, following their historic first meeting last week.
In the hours before the deal, Israel and Hezbollah — the Iran-backed militant group that operates out of Lebanon — had been trading attacks, testing the limits of the existing ceasefire struck on April 16.
Lebanon has no direct control over Hezbollah, but ending the fighting in the country has been seen as critical for peace talks between the U.S. and Iran.

And the more interesting component part of that question is that if you actually look statistically at suicides in New York in the fall of 1929, it was actually flat to possibly lower than the number of suicides in 1928. And so there is a view that sort of overdone. Having said that, the suicides that did take place were typically related to the crisis. Meaning a lot of the people who work were killing themselves it was a function of losing all the money, that during that period. And I'll tell you a personal story not told in the book. Which is that my grandfather, Sidney Sorkin, who's no longer alive, used to tell us his story. He was a messenger boy down in the exchange during that period with his, with his older brother.
