Experts are worried the higher temperature might trigger "tipping points" in vital parts of our planet's climate system, including coral reefs, glaciers, rainforests and ocean currents.
Once past their tipping points, they could flip from helping to keep the Earth cool to making it even warmer!

As the food breaks down it releases huge amounts of methane, making up 10% of the world’s climate-warming emissions. Now many cities and governments are looking to South Korea as a model of how to reduce food waste and boost food recycling.

Among other things, they’ve nudged the public to think about their food waste by making it mandatory to separate food waste and to pay for throwing it away. To some, that means taking a moment to appreciate the small things in life: the way the light falls on your desk in the afternoons, or a slow moment spent watching the way the trees blow in the wind. But now, rhinestones have entered the chat and the trend seems to have evolved into something entirely different. There are now concerns that it’s turned into over-consumerism, with people buying gems and other items to be whimsy. When some argue that whimsy simply cannot be bought.
We speak to content creators Karris & Elizabeth about what whimsy means to them. Mollie from the What in the World team talks us through how the trend has grown. And we break down the evolution of whimsy with pop culture writer, Alyssa, and de-influencer, Emma.

Such concerns have led to calls for a coordinated action in the US to slow down the development of the technology. But there are also some who have challenged the need for guardrails, Including US President Donald Trump, arguing that it would surrender America's dominance over the technology to its rivals.
China’s AI industry has also been accelerating in lockstep with the US, despite American efforts to restrict the pace of China’s tech development.
AI services from DeepSeek, Moonshot and Zhipu.AI, among others, have continually shown that Chinese competitors are either...
