- Leaders and residents of the Ijala axis in Warri South Local Government Area have protested their exclusion from the proposed ward delineation exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
At a press conference in Ifiekporo Community, representatives of Ifiekporo, Ajaetan, Ikeren and Utunwa communities called for the creation of an independent Ijala Ward from the existing Obodo/Omadino Ward.
The communities argue that the current ward structure, established in 1991, no longer reflects the area's population growth and development.
They say the Ijala axis hosts major oil and gas facilities and contributes significantly to the local economy, making it deserving of separate political representation.
The protesters appeal to President Bola Tinubu, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and INEC to review the proposed delineation and ensure equitable representation for the area.
