Through games and activities from #MollyofDenali and other #PBSKids shows, the #kids got to learn about Alaska history and culture while also building on important vocabulary and social-emotional skills. The kids also got to witness some Alaska Native Youth Olympic games up close!

- With recent #measles #outbreaks as close as Washington State, Oregon and British Columbia, now is a good time to make sure your immunizations are up to date. Children should get two doses of MMR, or measles, mumps, rubella, vaccine, starting at 12-15 months with a second dose at 4-6 years of age. Two doses of MMR vaccine are considered 97 percent effective at preventing measles. Measles is highly infectious and spreads through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. - E-cigarette use has become popular, and especially among teens and young adults – groups that have seen seen large declines in tobacco #smoking rates over the past three decades.
More than 3.6 million U.S. youth currently use #ecigarettes —that’s one in 5 high school students and one in 20 middle school students.
Studies suggest that teen use of e-cigarettes can lead youth to use other tobacco products. It is important to remember that most #ecigs deliver nicotine, which is addictive and can harm adolescent brains.

While the disease is now both preventable and curable, Alaska still has a #TB rate about three times higher than the national rate.

- An unstoppable force: The Pretty Rocks Landslide

- There are over one hundred and forty landslides along the Denali Park road, the 92 mile road through Denali National Park and Preserve. None are more threatening than the Pretty Rocks Landslide at Polychrome Pass. Roughly 45 miles into the park, Polychrome Pass is steep, windy, and breathtaking with sweeping views of valleys and mountains. The landslide is moving the road at a pace of 12 feet per year. Geologists and park officials are constantly working to address the problem to allow bus travel, but the landslide may force a more permanent reroute in the near future.
