- Description
- President Trump’s talk of taking Greenland isn’t a joke, that much is now clear. His ambition to "conquer" the autonomous Danish territory is a direct challenge to the EU, Nato, and the post-Cold War security order - so what should Europe do?
Roland chats to Rachel Ellehuus, head of British defence and security think tank RUSI and formerly a senior US official in Nato and the Pentagon. She explains why Greenland matters far more than most people realise: from missile defence and Arctic dominance to critical minerals and great-power competition.
They also discuss why Trump’s threats should be taken seriously, how Denmark and Greenland are responding behind the scenes, and why this moment is critical for Europe if it wants to protect its values and way of life.

- Robert Jenrick has defected to Reform UK after his dramatic sacking earlier today. During a press conference with Nigel Farage, Jenrick accused the Conservatives of “breaking Britain” in his first speech as a Reform MP.
Kemi Badenoch pulled a political U-turn the Prime Minister would be proud of when she announced Robert Jenrick had been fired from the Tory party after saying she had “irrefutable evidence” he was plotting a defection to Reform UK.
Jenrick has long been rumoured to be eyeing a move to Farage’s party, and now his political career has reached a dramatic flashpoint.
Camilla and Tim dissect the events as they look at the evidence compiled by the Tories, the Reform UK leader’s denial of any “plot,” and what this massive political drama means for the future of the Tory party and Reform UK.
Plus, did Camilla’s weekend column predicting the defection play a part?

- Nigel Farage will host a press conference at 4.20pm after Kemi Badenoch sacked Robert Jenrick, claiming that he was “plotting in secret to defect” to Reform UK.
The Tory leader said she had been presented with “clear, irrefutable evidence” that he was conspiring to leave the Conservative Party in a way designed to damage the shadow cabinet.
She said she had removed him as shadow justice secretary with immediate effect and suspended his party membership.
The Telegraph has been told that Mr Jenrick was sacked after evidence of an “imminent” defection – including a dinner he had with Nigel Farage, the Reform leader – had made its way back to Mrs Badenoch.

- Description
- While millions of Britons may already be flagging on their New Year’s ambitions to get fit and lose weight, Wes Streeting has suggested a more novel resolution for No 10 to consider in 2026: ditch the about-turns.
The Health Secretary, the subject of leadership rumours, took aim at the Government’s frequent habit of changing its mind on controversial policies as he spoke at a Westminster conference this week.
“In the NHS, we have an initiative called GIRFT – Get it right first time. That should be our New Year’s resolution for 2026 – let’s try and get it right first time,” he said.
It was a clear shot across Sir Keir Starmer’s bows, but one that was not heeded as, hours later, No 10 unveiled its 11th U-turn in 18 months.

The change of heart on a flagship policy followed similarly high-profile climbdowns on grooming gangs, the winter fuel allowance and welfare cuts.
Among the topics Mrs Badenoch could ask Sir Keir about are his digital ID about-turn, democracy protests in Iran and Rachel Reeves’s tax raid on pubs.

Dissidents shot security personnel with handguns, burned them alive and beat them to death in revenge for a harsh crackdown on peaceful demonstrations.
As many as 114 agents have been killed so far, according to the Iranian authorities – significantly more than during waves of previous anti-regime protests and demonstrations.
The dead include members of the elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), loyal to supreme leader Ali Khamenei, police, regular army and the Basij paramilitary forces.
Videos show masked men using handguns and what appears to be Kalashnikovs in street battles with security forces – scenes rarely seen in previous outbreaks of unrest.

“That's not enough to assure me and it doesn't help with any level of anxiety. That doesn't help with any sort of forecasting or planning.

- Britain has not been this irrelevant in 500 years | Allister Heath responds to readers' comments

- Description
- Civilisational decline happens slowly at first, and then all at once. Britain has not been this weak and irrelevant on the global stage since the early 1500s; France and Germany are facing equally severe existential crises.
It took Donald Trump to call our bluff, exposing our impotence and insignificance to a world we once dominated. British and European politicians cannot stop Trump from buying Greenland, or kidnapping Latin American tyrants, or taking out the Mullahs’ evil nuclear programme, or sanctioning Left-wing international judges, or doing whatever else he wants.

- Description
- The chances of London electing a Reform mayor may have seemed like a pipe dream to some, or a nightmare to others, just a few years ago.
But now self-styled “vigilante mum” of seven, criminal prosecutor and basketball player Laila Cunningham could be about to give Sadiq Khan a serious run for his money.
The newly-announced Reform candidate for mayor joins Camilla and Tim to talk about chasing down her children’s muggers, her plans for an “all-out war” on crime in the capital, and taking on the ULEZ.
Later she reacts to attacks on her over her Muslim identity, weighs in on the threat of Islamism, and calls for a ban on the burka.

- Minneapolis ICE shooting: How it unfolded

- Description
- A 37-year-old mother of three was shot dead while confronting immigration agents during a protest in Minnesota.
Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents claimed Renee Nicole Good was “blocking the street” with her car as they carried out a raid in the Minneapolis city on Wednesday.
An agent fired his weapon three times through the windscreen of her burgundy SUV, fatally wounding Ms Good in the process.
Donald Trump claimed the woman “violently, wilfully and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot her in self-defence”.
However, The Telegraph has analysed the video, which shows Ms Good appeared to move her car away from the ICE agent with whom she made no contact, casting doubt on the White House’s account.

- Jake, Nick and Will reflect on the fifth and final Test for England which ended in familiar fashion, a win for Australia to seal a 4-1 series victory for the hosts.
We also hear from Nick and Will about their exclusive story where they revealed England's white-ball captain Harry Brook had an altercation with a nightclub bouncer hours before leading the side in New Zealand. We discuss what this means for his and England's future.
There is praise for Jacob Bethell after his fantastic maiden century in the fifth Test.
We also look back on the series as a whole and ask how many things England could have done differently and if Ben Stokes struggled in his role as captain on Australian soil.
And looking ahead to the summer, we ask if this is the last we have seen of Bazball.

Camilla Tominey and Tim Stanley were at the press conference and reflect on whether Cunningham’s promise of an “all-out war on crime” leaves Sadiq Khan vulnerable at the next election, and also ask Farage about Reform’s recent dip in the polls and The Daily Telegraph’s “Save Our Pubs” campaign.
They also give their take on the first Prime Minister’s Questions of 2026, and accuse Keir Starmer of “forgetting that he leads a parliamentary democracy” by not giving a statement to Parliament about committing boots on the ground in Ukraine.

- Not content with having surrendered British fishing rights in an extraordinary “reset deal” with the EU last year, and also signed up to pay £570m per year to rejoin the Erasmus European student exchange programme, Keir Starmer is preparing to move Britain even closer to Brussels in 2026.
The Prime Minister has ruled out forming a customs union, rejoining the single market or revisiting freedom of movement, but he is drawing up a new bill allowing for closer alignment with Europe on energy, food and agricultural regulations.
On this edition of The Daily T, Camilla Tominey and Tim Stanley are joined by Sunday Telegraph editor Allister Heath, who says Labour are “desperate if they think rejoining will get them votes” as the EU is “in catastrophic decline”.
