- Britain’s most advanced stealth plane shot down an Iranian drone over Jordan in the aircraft’s first recorded combat kill.
F-35B warplanes have been scrambling from RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus this week to intercept waves of kamikaze drones launched by Tehran.
The jet used its advanced short-range air-to-air missiles to destroy an Iranian Shahed drone overnight, sources in the Ministry of Defence revealed tonight.
The weapons can destroy targets in the air from as far away as 16 miles or as close as 300 metres.
The operation took place while F-35s were protecting Jordanian airspace, with RAF Typhoons and Voyager air-to-air refuelling aircraft supporting the stealth jets.
Iran has indiscriminately bombarded Jordan and the Gulf states in retaliatory strikes after the US and Israel attacked the country over the weekend, killing its supreme leader on Saturday.

- Britain’s unemployment rate is forecast to climb to its highest level since the pandemic, according to the budget watchdog.
The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) said the number of people out of work who are looking for a job would hit 1.9m by the end of the year.
The fiscal watchdog said the unemployment rate would climb to 5.3pc, its highest level since the latter months of 2020 when Covid had plunged the nation into lockdown.
The forecast was published after Rachel Reeves admitted in her Spring Statement that the economy will grow at a slower pace than previously expected this year.
The Chancellor said that the OBR had predicted that GDP would expand by 1.1pc in 2026 – lower than its previous estimate for growth of 1.4pc – blaming lower net migration for the decline.
The downgrade threatens to undermine Sir Keir Starmer’s pledge before the 2024 General Election that Britain would have the fastest growth in...

The buyer, Paramount boss David Ellison, got his prize after a months-long takeover battle with Netflix. The streaming pioneer suddenly walked away from perhaps its only chance to own the studio, which vies with Disney for the title of Hollywood’s most celebrated.
So it’s over. Or perhaps not quite. The next episode may offer its own drama. Throughout the bidding, the Ellison camp claimed they would more easily win regulatory approval than Netflix. Their vanquished rival remains sceptical.

- Most Londoners have grown used to paying around £7 for a pint without batting an eyelid, but the average price of a beer is on course to hit £10 within a decade, Telegraph analysis has revealed.
It comes as pubs struggle to survive amid an onslaught of higher taxes and rising costs. There were just over 1,100 pub closures in 2025, according to The Telegraph’s research.
Already this year, there have been a further 212 closures, with an estimated four pubs shutting their doors each day.
To survive, pubs will need to increase prices, which, on current trends, will spiral beyond £10 in the capital for an average pint by 2036. The rest of the nation is likely to reach the same level by 2047.

In reality, things could be even worse, as the calculation assumes pubs will take only a miniscule profit of 2.5pc by then.

- Revealed: what really happened inside Andrew’s last meeting with Epstein | The Daily T
- Runtime

- Description
- In his now infamous Newsnight interview, the former prince Andrew insisted he went to New York solely to break off his friendship with the disgraced financier.
But as with many of the claims in that interview, new evidence from the Epstein files casts a very different light on that trip. Many of the relevant documents have been reviewed for the first time by the Telegraph, and reveal that, far from cutting ties with Epstein during a week-long stay at his New York mansion, Andrew partied with the convicted paedophile, made dinner plans with Naomi Campbell, and even considered a trip to the financier’s private island as part of his visit.

- ‘A sectarian travesty’ : The Greens' dirty tricks in Gorton and Denton exposed | The Daily T

- Description
- It is election day in Gorton and Denton, and the polls are so tight it is impossible to call a winner.
This crucial by-election is seemingly a three-way split between Reform, the Green Party and Labour.
Whatever the result, the campaign itself has been an ugly one, with each party accusing the other of dirty tricks and the Greens criticised for “manipulating” an area with a large Muslim population in an attempt to divide the contest along religious lines.
Allister Heath, a Daily Telegraph columnist, decries this “retrograde step towards sectarianism” as a “disaster for democracy”, and says elections should be “decided on whether policies are good or bad, not whether you win the demographic war”.

- Suella Braverman has launched a blistering attack against Sir Mark Rowley, the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, accusing him of failing to curb extremism on London’s streets and keep Jewish communities safe.
In a live recording of the Telegraph's Planet Normal podcast, the former home secretary said she had daily battles with Sir Mark over the Met’s failure to police pro-Palestine marches sufficiently robustly.
She said the police should have intervened more strongly and arrested people committing public order offences at the marches, held regularly in London after the Hamas October 7 terror attacks on Israel.

- Your co-pilots have braved the atmosphere of planet Earth as the rocket touches down at the Emmanuel Centre in London for a live recording of Planet Normal!
To mark the occasion, your co-pilots are joined by two of the most fearless voices to navigate a country they fear is currently on an ‘economic cliff edge’.
The first revered stowaway on the rocket today is Lionel Shriver: The celebrated satirical novelist discusses her provocative new book, A Better Life. She pulls no punches while exploring the naivete of the progressive left and the ruthlessness often overlooked in the immigration debate.
Also strapping in for lift-off is Suella Braverman KC MP in her first appearance since her high-profile defection to Reform UK. She reveals the ‘list of great betrayals’ she witnessed at the heart of government and explains why she believes the Conservative Party has abandoned the principles of Margaret Thatcher.

- Sir Keir Starmer faced questions in the House of Commons for first time since Mandelson arrest.
Lord Mandelson was arrested on Monday afternoon on suspicion of committing misconduct in public office.
The Government announced earlier on Monday that the “Mandelson files” – a dossier of about 100,000 potentially embarrassing documents relating to his appointment and government work – would not be released until after the by-election had concluded.
Sir Keir has insisted that he did not know about the “depth” of Lord Mandelson’s relationship with Epstein at the time he was appointed, although the details of their friendship had already been published by newspapers and in a report by the investment bank JP Morgan.

At the event in Dover he also proposed banning all face coverings in public, including the burka – a change in position since Yusuf quit the party over a row with MP Sarah Pochin about the same issue.
But while Zia Yusuf also promised to protect churches and Christianity, Tim asks: is his message on immigration actually un-Christian?
