She grew up on a farm during the Great Depression, but the economic hardship felt by much of the country didn’t hit home; her family wasn’t wealthy, but they were pretty self-sufficient.
She remembers when her mother died when she was 5 and her father got remarried to a woman who wasn’t very maternal.
She lived through World War II, remembering mostly when it ended because her job earning 25-cents-an-hour folding uniforms at the New Cumberland Army Depot ended when the war did.

“Many years ago as a young man I stood in this very auditorium for my high school graduation in 1993. Only a few of the top members of my class had the privilege of addressing everyone from this podium, so I am telling you today that I promise you this is the very first time I was … true,” Sunday said, broken up with the crowd's robust laughter.

Waking up to over six inches of fresh snow and temperatures in the single digits, the annual MLK Day of Day of Service breakfast at Crispus Attucks in York needed to make a few adjustments on the fly due to people unable to arrive.
The choir and a few award recipients didn’t show due to the weather, but program director Kelly Summerford kept the program, in its fifth decade, to its annual purpose of never forgetting Martin Luther King Jr.’s impact on the York community.
Mylea Thompson came forward singing acapella, reading the words off of her phone screen, when the scheduled choir didn’t show, bringing the audience in wi...

Flowers are her world, and arranging them into colorful, eye-catching bouquets started was something she did for fun in high school. Cancilla grew up in Shinglehouse, a borough in Potter County that borders New York state. Her town's population was a little over 1,000, and her graduating class was less than 50.
During her junior year at Oswayo Valley High School, she arranged a bouquet of wildflowers and entered them in the local county fair. To her surprise, she won a ribbon. A year later, she earned a second ribbon.

As part of his duty as the current York City Police Commissioner, Michael Muldow attends many memorials for former York City Police staff. He found something was missing – those honored participating in the celebration of their own life and the sharing of their accomplishments.
“As I continue to attend the heartfelt services for our departed colleagues at arms, to include my father, I find myself thinking the same thoughts time and time again. I wish they could see how much they were loved and how much their service and sacrifice was truly appreciated,” Muldrow said.

If such a plan is not in place, the restart would not pass Nuclear Regulatory Commission muster.

He's also outfitted athletes who weren't the standouts in their sport but have grown over time. Perhaps that is more rewarding because "you feel like you've had a part in that development," Baum said.
